Excellent house great location
We loved our stay here. Got to see the stars from inside and outside the house and we hiked to the hot springs. It is a unique location and we would highly recommend it.

One of the most unique places EVER!
Location was easy to find, check in quick and the location and the house itself are stunning. Very unusual house, great backstory and the owner Brenda was super nice. And we loved Ruby the dog! Everything was super clean, pillows were amazing and we had a super relaxing and chill stopover. Absolutely would recommend

Unique property with incredible views, privacy, and natural beauty. The perfect place to connect with nature and enjoy a one of a kind home in a one of a kind location. On our 1 night stay we saw coyotes and bighorn sheep!

Unique house with great host!
My fiancé and I really enjoyed our stay here, Brenda was a fantastic host and gave us great tips on where to hike around Taos. We had everything we needed and Brenda even helped us when we were in a pinch and needed our car jumped! Best and most unique VRBO I’ve stayed in, hands down!

Beautiful house in a gorgeous location
The house exceeded our expectations! It was such a unique building and the interiors in particular were gorgeous. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We also loved the proximity to the Rio Grande Gorge and the hike down to the hot springs. The host was also lovely and very accommodating. Would highly recommend!!

The Road Less Traveled
If you are coming to Taos I would highly recommend staying at the Dobson House. It is a beautiful and unique experience. Getting there is a little rough it is located several miles down a dirt road. But that is part of the adventure. The house is very large and has great views. Brenda is the host. We never had a chance to meet her, but she answered all of our questions and had the house in tip top shape. We had a great time and you will too.

quiet mountain top retreat
The Dobson House is an amazing and unique place for a retreat or for a short stay in the Taos area. The home is situated at the end of a 4 mile plus washboard dirt road which can be challenging for a two-wheel drive rental car. The road’s condition in a few spots was in need of a bit of fill as we crossed a dry arroyo and a few worn ruts which could cause under carriage damage to a non-all wheel drive vehicle with high ground clearance. The addition of a few more reflectors would assist the navigation at night. Overall the stay was enjoyable but the path was unexpected and should be made known to future travelers.

THE Earthship to Visit
Brenda and Ruby(!) were amazing hosts in what is by far the most beautiful and expansive Earthship I've ever seen. Brenda has a photo album with pictures of the construction and was able to answer a lot of my questions about the history of the building. The road to get there is a little rough if you're in a smaller car, but the location is fantastic for viewing the night sky. Cell service is limited/nonexistent, so make sure you've got the driving and check-in instructions saved beforehand. The house is hooked up to the grid and has well water, so we had no concerns about clean drinking water or hot showers. Brenda set us up with pour-over coffee and breakfast bars for the morning. We were the only guests that night, so we had the run of the downstairs and a lot of privacy. Highly recommend if you're interested in beautiful scenery, sustainable architecture, and/or completely disconnecting!

This place is very cool, but follow directions from the Taos Regional Airport. We were coming from Denver and sent us on a 4 wheel drive road. The regular road is pretty rough getting in on too and recommend a 4 wheel drive.

Relax in a great locale
The property is located on a hilltop near the Rio Grande Gorge (easy hiking distance). It was a very quiet, peaceful location while still being an easy driving distance from Taos. The room and common area are unique and fun. The hostess was also very responsive. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Fantastic Earthship
This home was incredible. The location outside of town allowed for serenity, big sky viewing, access to the Rio Grande and was perfect. Brenda was a gracious and kind host and gave us so many helpful tips. Loved it!

not quite as advertised
The house was amazing and the hostess lovely, BUT vrbo advertises that no one else will share the property with you. the hostess lives in the house, and most definitely you will not be the only people there. VRBO declined to do anything to make this right when we complained. we only stayed one night because my wife was uncomfortable with the situation. if we wanted to share a house with someone else, we would have used a different service. I was more disappointed in the reaction, or lack thereof, on the part of VRBO when we explained the situation.

Very interesting house
Since we stayed over July 4th we had freedom from the noise of our home local. The off the beaten path location was good and the only noise at night we heard were some coyotes. Brenda the owner was great and informed us on the area sites of the Taos area. It does get warm in the summer so keep that in mind as the property does not have refrigerated air conditioning.

Just stunning
We enjoyed our time here so much! The Dobson House is as interesting, beautiful and soothing as you could imagine. Brenda was a fantastic host. Very warm, generous and easy to communicate with. She gave us great ideas for hikes, both onsite and in the mountains. The location, while definitely out of the way, is amazing for the view and hike down to the gorge. (Saw bighorn sheep!) I never tired of the view, the sunsets or that stunning staircase. Even brushing your teeth with a view…such a unique setting. There is something special in every angle of this spacious treasure house. Thank you, Brenda! We couldn’t have been happier.

We loved our stay at Dobson house. We've never stayed in an earth ship before and it was really great. Beautifully designed space with loads of natural light and incredible views. And the house dog, Ruby, was a sweet addition. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful location
The views were amazing. Brenda and Ruby were welcoming hosts. We loved the hike to the Rio Grande, however the river was too high to enjoy the hot springs. Overall we had a wonderful stay.

Amazing earthship
We only stayed one night, wish it could have been longer. My friends were a little concerned at first when we left the pavement, but by the time we got there we were all enchanted. Beautiful home and host. Even thought the night was very cold outside (20F) we were warm and toasty inside. the views from the living room were fantastic. We were able to take a short hike to the Rio Grand George. The best word I can use is WOW!!!!!

Beautiful spot but didn't know we were sharing property
We enjoyed our stay very much and the quick access this location provided to great hiking trails. I am allergic to animals and so the description of "no pets" made me believe there would be no animals, but we were greeted by Ruby, the dog, a very sweet canine but allergy-activating. We also didn't know we were sharing the premises with the owner, who was not able to contain her dog. It was fascinating to stay in an earthship, and we loved the stars and the main fireplace that works. (The bedroom fireplaces do not.) A beautiful place!

I’m happy you and your three guests had a lovely stay in my 6,500-square-foot earthship, exquisitely designed for privacy, unparalleled views, hiking trails along the gorge’s rim, and gourmet cooking. You must recall that the stoves in the suites you occupied work, but require an experienced fire builder as the suite building lower on the hill has an air pressure differential and venting can be tricky. The fresh mountain water and solar electric circulating through the earthship’s unique systems require an attendant (me in my private quarters) to ensure your stay is fabulous. You were experiencing springtime allergies and said my dog wasn’t a problem. I’m sorry your experience wasn’t perfect. Wishing you peace and happiness, Brenda

Majestic Views
This was easily my favorite place to spend a night in New Mexico! Brenda was such an accommodating host, as well as her sweet pup Ruby, who greeted us at the door. The earthship was enchanting and the surrounding areas were an amazing hike! Clearest sky for stargazing too. Definitely visit with a high clearance vehicle and 4 wheel drive, as the roads can be rocky, steep, and narrow. It's practically on a mountain after all!

This is an awesome property. Words can’t do it justice, you just have to experience it for yourself. This is perfect for two couples traveling together. Remote, private and a nice hike to Manby Hot Springs. Brenda is a great host.
