"This was by far the most unique, amazing hotel we stayed at on the island of Crete. Upon arrival we were given fresh-squeezed lemonade made from their own lemon trees. The staff was so friendly! The building is over 500 years old, and nothing like I've ever seen before. The suite we got was huge, (living room, full kitchen, dining room, and bathroom downstairs and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs). "The Villa Aloni exceeded all our expectations in terms of quality and facilities. We were looking for somewhere in "hidden Crete" and this property in Maza gave us a sense of rural remoteness but with access to the national road (and easy drives to Hania and Rethymnon) in 5 minutes. The villa was excellently equipped with every modern convenience (except a dishwasher which might have been an asset for a larger party). Everything worked effectively and when the kettle broke, this was replaced...
