"To begin with, the property was undergoing renovations, which I was not made aware of prior to arrival. Had I known, I may have reconsidered booking. We also experienced several issues during our stay: * The sliding door in our room barely functioned and required two people to open it. After contacting the front desk, maintenance came to look at it and stated the wheels were rusted. He said there was nothing he could do unless the entire door was replaced, and then left without resolving the issue. * After returning from a long day out, our room keys suddenly stopped working. One member of our group had recently undergone hip replacement surgery, so standing outside the room waiting was especially difficult. The front desk told us the keys must have been too close to our phones, but they had not been stored near phones at all. * Later that evening, we went to use the hot tub only to find it completely drained. There had been no notice at check-in and no signage indicating it was out of order. Additionally, the pool area floor was visibly dirty. * That same night, there was loud pounding music coming from a nearby room well past midnight. We called the front desk and were told someone would address it. The music briefly stopped, then resumed and continued until around 3:00 a.m., making it very difficult to sleep. * While any one of these issues alone may have been manageable, the combination of all of them resulted in a very frustrating and uncomfortable stay."

"My friend and I decided to take a last minute weekend trip to the coast and decided to stay overnight. We were looking for cheap with a good location, free parking and maybe a continental and we found all of that with the Atomic Motel. The dated look is part of its charm - despite looking a little worn down it's in great condition, everything is clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in a room that was a queen bed with a twin bed and it worked great for us. The TV in the room is tiny but honestly if you're in Astoria you're probably not there to watch TV. The bathroom is the only area I thought was truly lacking - if you have bad knees or ADA needs it might be a little difficult as the toilet sits about 1.5'. Otherwise the bathroom is spacious enough with a good sized bath/shower, they even supply an anti-slip mat which is always appreciated. The overall property is simple. Parking is right in the middle of the property with easy access to rooms. If you'd rather have a full breakfast over the continental, there's a Pig & Pancake right next door. If you're visiting the area for the first time, around the block behind the motel is the Astoria Visitor Center with information about local events and attractions as well as souvenirs and maps and a sweet old lady who'll tell you all about anything you want to know about the area."

Bowline Hotel

"The Bowline was genuinely beautiful. The room was great, and the balcony view of the river was so peaceful. The in-room bathtub was perfect for relaxing, and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The fireplace is controlled by the thermostat, which made it really easy to turn on and made the room feel extra cozy. My only slight confusion was the “resort fee.” It’s only $15, but this definitely isn’t a traditional resort with a pool, gym, spa, etc. That said, there is a barrel sauna on one end of the property, so I’m guessing that may be what the fee goes toward. The room also comes with a refillable carafe of water that you can refill near the bar area. The breakfast/restaurant area is pretty small, so I’d recommend exploring some of the nearby cafes instead. Also, some reviews mentioned noise, but that wasn’t my experience at all. The whole place felt calm, quiet, and really serene."
