An amazing fresh home cooked breakfast with local produce, excellent menu.
Limited parking to the side of the hotel, plenty of street parking just outside.
It's an old pub so expect quirks, but that said, lovely one night stay, breakfast was great!

An old English local pub/hotel. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Nice evening meals. Suited my needs of 'a bed for the night'. The room was clean with TV, kettle, tea, coffee and milk.
Had previously read the reviews for the hotel and decided to give it a go. On arrival friendly welcoming. Got to room, smelt a bit of smoke. TV the size of a small PC monitor. Outside light on all night lighting up the room even with curtains closed. In the morning no heating until 0645. Tried to have a hot shower, no hot water despite running water for 5 minutes.

One night stay over
Ideal for a one night stay over. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff were welcoming
A very interesting ancient inn. The town is spoilt by the fast roads going through the centre and the limited options for eating out other than in the hotel. The church is beautiful!

I have stayed at the Griffin many times and will continue to choose this venue above any others in the area. Its just a pub with rooms upstairs. It has a good restaurant, and thats exactly what I am looking for. Onsite parking is tight but I've never had any issue parking outside.
A lovely English Inn. It's an old building looking out on the town and church.
The bed was comfortable and room was warm.
The staff very friendly. Breakfast was great.
Richard is a character. Will come again when visiting family.
It's a 470 year old inn; so the floors are a bit wonky and there is no lift but the bedroom is otherwise good 3 star standard and the staff are courteous and helpful, the restaurant serves good Englsh cuisine at reasonable prices and the bar atmosphere is that of a village pub. and it couldn't be closer to the centre of town
Areived late but key was ready for collection straight away. A grwat cooked breakfast in the morning. Clean, friendly, simple. Can't complain!

Staff were helpful and friendly, evening meals we had were good and reasonable priced.
Room was clean but beds mattress were lumpy … could feel the springs almost pocking through. The shower was poor with only a trickle of water. Am afraid the breakfast didn’t live up to the evening meal, there wasn’t even a breakfast menu, no cereals or fruit juice etc , no toast and sausages were like cardboard, egg was under cooked , but at least it wasn’t over priced .
Its just an old Coaching Inn. A pub with rooms on the upper floor, and that is precisely what I love about the place. Never an issue with parking, and two large Supermarkets within a few minutes walk. Takeaways line the main road if something varied is required, but the Griffin has an excellent restaurant serving excellent wholesome fresh tukka. The breakfast option is also excellent. I have stayed there many times and will continue to do so.

Quirky
Lovely little ‘quirky’ hotel. The owners were delightful and very helpful. Food was delicious. I did find the stairs to the room quite a challenge due to osteoarthritis, but mobile people wouldn’t find this an issue. The room was adequate and serviced daily. The was a tv - the fact that I could only get one channel at a set volume added to the overall experience. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were replenished daily. Bathroom was small and could do with a touch of paint, but did what it needed to do. I could have done with a chair in the room, but there probably wasn’t enough space for one. Overall I enjoyed my stay and the little eccentricities of the place added to its charm.
Room clean and comfy with plenty of space. Be aware the floor in room not level but not a problem for us once we realised. Stairs to room a bit wobbly so you need to take care. Old building but clean. Breakfast was delicious with local butchers sausage and bacon. Parking a bit of a problem so we had to park in public car park for 3 Hours ( Free) until space available.
450 yr old coach house in the middle of town.
The staff helpful. Free parking, breakfast included.
Rooms were good and clean with comfortable beds.
The main bar and dining area needs a full revamp , carpet would benefit from being removed and the old wood flooring brought back to life, the odour of old stale smoke from an era of open fires still hangs in the air. It’s time for fresh blood to take the reins and the owner gentleman to think about enjoying his latter years and not trying to continue working to the end. I have empathy for his willpower but sometimes you need to consider calling time
Good old fashioned pub hotel. Food is proper pub grub, wholesome and fresh.
Oled world build, floors are uneven but give character.
My go to place when in the area.
