An immaculate, architect-designed home with a pool looking out over Noto and the sea.
Adesso's architectural pedigree lies not only in its subtle, light-filled contemporary design but also in the gentle, unassuming way it sits in its ancient context. Surrounded by dry stone walls, carob trees and olive groves, and blessed with timeless views over the undulating hills around Noto and the sparkling sea beyond, Adesso offers a magical mix of peace, personality and proximity to all that's best about Sicily's southeast corner.
Inside: accommodation at Adesso is all on one floor. The main entrance takes one into a luminous, open-concept space, which is arranged in three distinct but organically flowing sections. The first is furnished with a sofa and a collection of designer chairs gathered in a convivial circle around a coffee table and a decorative fireplace.
The central section is given over to a dining table, which is served by a minimalist (though well-equipped) contemporary kitchen at the far end of the space. Furnishings and fittings are of an excellent quality and set the tone for the rest of the property. Walls of glass bring in the light and the (sea) views and ensure that the difference between indoor and outdoor living is minimal. Creamy floors of locally quarried stone add a touch of warmth and perfectly offset the modernist edge.
A partially open corridor running behind the open-plan living space provides access to the four welcoming bedrooms, whose similar dimensions ensure that all guests will feel equally pampered. There are two doubles and two double-twins, each with its own en-suite shower room and access, via large glass doors to the fragrant surrounding gardens.
Outside: Adesso sits at the centre of a wraparound garden from where views of Noto's countryside and the sea fan out in front of you. A monumental pair of carob trees, one on each side of the house, give a feeling of natural symmetry and provide a sense of place.
Both the living areas and the bedrooms access the gardens, so no matter where you are inside, you're never more than a couple of steps away from being outside. The living areas flow out onto a large terraced area complete with a shaded al fresco dining area, which in turn gives way to an area of lawn.
Next comes the gorgeous infinity pool, which has been oriented to give bathers the sensation of swimming out towards the sea. Beyond the pool is an outdoor kitchen and a second al fresco dining area, from where you may look back at and admire your contemporary home from home.
