"It was a very nice stay with an excellent couple. Warm welcomed. A very nice big dog was also present to welcome. I had to say hello to the dog as he was so friendly. Very cooperative host. Family environment. Residence is upstairs like three rooms and bathroom outside the rooms. Mostly quiet. Nice and clean and a proper communication with the host throughout my stay. I was invited warmly to have breakfast but had no time. Will miss this stay."

"We had a lovely one night stay in August, booked for a Balloon ride locally. The annexe is attached to the owners house but perfectly private. Set in a small courtyard and garden, the walk up the wooden staircase leads to a secret and very private BBQ and wooded area with fabulous views by day and magical, twinkling fairy lights at night. The property had a cosy, luxurious feel throughout with a well-equipped kitchen and a spotless, spacious shower room. The basket of local goodies for breakfast...

"A very enjoyable and comfortable stay but note two areas with room for improvement. First, the room was quite dusty and we could not ascertain its origin though speculate that it comes from the air conditioning unit. Second, the shower floor is very slippery when wet, especially with the additional slipperiness of shower gel or shampoo."
"A nice friendly welcome. Lovely comfy bed, and nice shower. It was quite a warm day so used the air con which wasn't that great and a bit noisy but that was the only negative. Had a drink in the bar which was nice and chilled. "

I wanted to share a review of the wonderful experience I had during my stay last night. As someone who works in hospitality, I’d say I’m probably fussier than most and Parkgate certainly had a strong reputation to live up to - but it absolutely delivered.
Every member of staff I encountered was polite, friendly, approachable, and incredibly attentive. From the doorman to reception, the waiting staff in The Sorting Room and cocktail bar, as well as room service and the spa team - everyone contributed to making my stay so enjoyable. I only wish I could thank each of them personally and I hope this review is passed on.
I did try to take note of a few names. There was a lovely lady on reception at the spa who arranged my booking, and Lucy, my therapist, who was exceptional. She was warm, professional, and attentive throughout - regularly checking in to ensure I was comfortable. It was genuinely one of the most relaxing massages I’ve ever had.
At afternoon tea Nicola and Massimiliano (I think) in the restaurant couldn’t have been more accommodating, it was both filling and beautifully presented.
While the room itself was lovely, it was truly the staff and overall experience that made my stay so memorable. I’ll absolutely be recommending the Parkgate and look forward to returning.
Thank you again to the entire team.

"Very good hotel at that price for a break in Cardiff especially for train travellers as it is right next to the station & easy walking distance to all the City centre shops & restaurants.
Rooms are compact but have all you need. Comfortable beds, TV & hairdryer & shower rooms with complimentary shampoos, soaps etc.
The reception staff were very friendly & helpful as well as the house keeping staff.
Very comfortable & enjoyable stay"
"Stayed for an awards evening as we were sponsoring the event. Credit where it’s due—the event itself was well run and organised.
Unfortunately, the hotel completely let it down. The room was genuinely one of the worst I’ve stayed in. The bathroom was in a poor state: mould present, rusty taps and fittings, enamel missing from the bath, and a cracked mirror. The walls were dirty, the carpet was worn bare in places, and even the bins looked battered and unclean.
The issues weren’t limited to the room. Public toilets were in similarly poor condition, with wobbly taps and broken door handles, and the lift was out of order. On top of that, it was noisy at night, making it hard to get a decent sleep.
To add to the frustration, the shower curtain clung to you while showering, and the bath handle had been fixed to the wall in a way that made it unusable.
On a positive note, the air conditioning worked well and the bed was comfortable—but unfortunately, that’s about where the positives end.
