Check in was difficult due to no light, first we couldn’t see the house number, or their hill crest sign, then the numbers in the black box which held the key to get in. (Both were very obvious in the daylight!!) Everything felt clean enough, but just worn out. A refresher coat of paint, new shower curtains and a cleaner carpet would go a long way!!

The property was lovely with views over the countryside. Room was clean and quiet.The breakfast was good with plenty of variety. Was looked after very well by the host. The reason people stay there is to visit the magnificent Bamburgh Castle overlooking the North Sea. Altogether well worth a stay

a B&B with character, the room was lovely, we had a great night's sleep and a fine cooked breakfast. Mark and his Dad are excellent hosts too.

Had a fantastic stay! Mark was super helpful and accommodating. Couldn’t be closer to the local restaurants, bars and of course the castle. Everything was spot on. Also the breakfast was tailored to how you want it and was delightful. Would definitely stay again and recommend anyone else to stay here.

We had a super stay at Hillcrest; Mark & his father were very welcoming and supportive and the breakfasts were fab! Our room was really clean and comfortable and the en-suite was exceptional; we wish we could have transferred it to our own home. If we are ever in this part of the world again, there is absolutely no doubt where we would stay - at HILLCREST! Fantastic location with excellent hosts. Everything about our stay was perfect with support from host Mark both leading up to and for the duration of the stay. The property is immaculate and has everything you need for a peaceful break. Location is fantastic for restaurants, shops, beach and Bamburgh castle. The breakfast and service were a perfect way to start our day.

Great family stay

Really nice stay and Mark was very friendly and helpful. He suggested places to go and breakfast provided was very tasty and to exact requirements. I would highly recommend as it is near the castle and other places to visit such as the beach and museum. We had a great stay and will definitely visit again.

Totally charmed

We were totally charmed with our stay at Hillcrest House Bed & Breakfast in Bamburgh! We climbed the beautiful staircase to our room (Room 1, Deluxe Double Room, Sea View) - we could see the North Sea from our window and right out the window was a sheep and bunny field! We love this! The breakfast options were amazing and Malcom cooked it to perfection!

Mark, the owner was friendly and welcoming He also turns out a fantastic breakfast with loads of choice as well. Although property needs a bit of sprucing up it was warm, comfortable and relaxing.
