“The road to get to this property is no joke! The write up on Shelter cove road is spot on. At the end of the road is a hidden gem. Black sand beaches, and quite a view. The property was going thru some renovations, but our room was spacious and clean. Open the door to your balcony, and the ocean is right there. Breakfast at the cafe was also very good, it’s not included with the room. ”

The most important thing I want to note is that i feel like you need to make sure you arrive during the day time hours because we arrived at 11 pm and our kids were truly scared since you have to walk in thru a kind of creepy basement area (where bedroom #1 is). Very easy to find right off the highway but far enough away that road noise was not an issue (there is a closer road but it was partially closed so road noise was even lower than normal). Behind a secure automatic gate with a few other accommodations. The drive up to the stay was fairly steep so be aware you may need to push the gas up the gravel more than you're comfortable doing. “We loved this little cabin! It had everything we needed! One thing to be aware of: the local pickleball community has adopted part of the street leading to the cabin as their courts. “I was here for the Gimme Shelter Eighteenth Annual Kayak Gathering. The location was perfect. I used the oven to bake two native blackberry pies for the event potluck dinner. I parked my car with kayak on top in the provided parking area. It worked out well. I was able to rinse the salt water from my kayak gear with the host's permission after a successful (awesome) day fishing. I had a wonderful time.”

“Off grid getaway tucked deep in the redwoods— arrival itself is an adventure. The apartment is a quiet, peaceful nook with an eclectic touch. “This was our first visit to northern California. We had a great view of the cove where there were sea lions and seals and enjoyed watching the birds and deer from the porch. We traveled to the redwoods which were not far. We also explored the General Store and enjoyed a meal at the brewery in Shelter Cove. All communication with the homeowner was prompt and courteous. Perfect trip!”

“Place is great. Only negative was Vacasa inserting extra steps into reservation process after I had been confirmed by VRBO, and encountering rude Vacasa customer service while calling trying to avoid identity theft. We all deserve kindness and compassion. Finding out I am dealing with a middleman with extra rules is reasonably off-putting after thinking I've closed a deal with VRBO. Cancelling and starting over at that point would have been a hassle. Writing this review is a hassle yet I thought……
