Comfortable ski-in ski-out stay

We stayed and skied for two days. The owner is extremely friendly, responsive, and easy to work with!

Great location

We stayed here for a ski race and the location was perfect. It is a very old property but it is a clean space and fine for a ski weekend.

Ski trip

The place was very nice, clean. The ski hill was not open. They are closed Monday-Wednesday. But the sister ski hill is very close. Callie is an amazing host. Responds quickly and very accommodating. Would definitely stay again.

A Family Tradition

The property is incredibly managed, maintained, and updated. Calley, the owner is awesome. Bill, the property manager insures everything you need (and more), is available and working. After 9 years, every year... This is a home away from home to our kids, and we're treated like family.

Weekend with the family

A little unclear in directions to find the place, adding the information to take a left when you can see the lodge would be helpful. There wasn’t enough bedding or towels and the phone that was supposed to have free long distance didn’t work for anything but hopefully an emergency call. We were able to contact the manager in a window of cell service and he did bring additional bedding. A kitchen towel and washcloth would also be nice.

Christmas in Bessemer during Blizzard

Drove into Bessemer during a blizzard. Calley, the property owner, went above and beyond what we expected. She was super accommodating because of the blizzard. She offered to let us shift our days or move our trip. When we told her we were set on our days, she offered an early check in due to severe weather. She also requested a fresh snowplow right before our scheduled arrival. Her communication was excellent and mostly by text. The unit was very clean. Beds were comfy. Pillows were a mix of nice feather pillows and normal foam pillows. Plenty of bedding for 8 people . Fireplace worked well and plenty of wood. Loved all the closets and bathrooms. Huge highlight was the basement rec room with hot tub, sauna, air hockey, board games, wii, second tv. This was the perfect unit to be stuck in during a snowstorm (hill was closed on day one of our vacation due to extreme weather). Side note: our unit was plowed regularly during the storm and we had no problem getting in and out with our suburban. Others in the Bessemer area were snowed in and couldn’t get to the hill on day 2. On day 2 Black Jack was open. Just 2 lifts but they were open. Powderhorn was closed day 2-I believe because staff were snowed in. We skied Powderhorn on day 3. Powderhorn was closed 2 days in a row-day 1’ due to active blizzard and day 2 because of challenges related to the blizzard. When we went there on day 3, they gave all skiers the local lift discount of $35 because they had been closed. That impressed me. I would encourage skiers to check out both Black River Basin and Powderhorn on their next ski trip. Overall, considering the weather and hill closings, this property was perfect!

Great way to bring in the New Year!

The property that we stayed out it was nice and clean and well-maintained. The kids enjoyed skiing on the hill and we had a nice area to sled and have a fire. The fireworks were amazing! We will definitely be back!

Great location , clean accommodations,

Very smooth rental - owner easy to work with -ski in ski out great location . Couches are very uncomfortable for relaxing after a long day of skiing. Great to have a wood burning fireplace !

Perfect ski in/out

Access to skiing and lodging amenities were great! Cleanliness and ambience was exactly what you want when on a ski getaway - perfect for children who wish to come and go throughout the day. Dry firewood for the warm and cozy fireplace was greatly appreciated!

Ski-in, Ski-out at Blackjack

The property was great and served our needs well. The air hockey table in the basement was a hit with our kids. Ski-in, ski-out, right on the hill. The only problem for us was that our kids (3 yrs and 5 yrs) needed easier terrain than they have at Blackjack. So we ended up driving over to Indianhead every day. Not the rentals fault - but good to know for the future!

Thank you so much for sharing this place with us. Great place for a family or a group of friends! Ski in/out - how can you beat that! after skiing hot tub, sauna, ping-pong, hockey tables, and other options for more activities ...- Lamberjack - Fantastic place. Nice, clean, and ready for us. We came with grown up kids and handful of grandchildren. It was easy to come for home lunch and cook supper. Skiing was superb. Very friendly Blackjack Staff and lifts operators. unseasonably warm but fun skiing

The location of the lodging is great. True ski in ski out location which was perfect for a large group to come and go as they please. Comfortable beds, nice fireplace (which we did not need) well equipped kitchen.

Great Place for Vacation!

Great accommodation! Nice, clean, well prepared and equipped for vacation. Just come and enjoy! Thank you Calley! Hope that management of Blackjack Resort reevaluates the consolidation of skiing only to Indian Head during weekdays. This really turned skiers and families away from coming to UP Michigan. We’ve been there a number of times and were very sad to see very few people even on weekends, even though the staff tried really hard to add lots of fun activities including entertainment with live music.
