A beautiful view from the room. Appledore is very lovely. Able to park opposite the accommodation in the evenings. Good welcome and breakfast at the Royal George.

Great location in the middle of Appledore. Very clean and nicely decorated. Would stay again which says it all really!
Wonderful location, beautiful, well equipped and tastefully decorated room and en-suite.
Stunning views of Appledore estuary.
Breakfast at the The Royal George, just a short walk away, was a brilliant start to the day, locally sourced ingredients expertly cooked, absolutely delicious.
Definitely the best place to stay in Appledore.
Besutiful room with great views overlooking the water. It wss clean, very comfortable and had lovely facilties including a coffee machine and great shower. Checking in and out was very clear and simple too. Bonus that it was dog friendly!
The rooms, location are fantastic. The only minis I’ve s the luck of double glazing which makes the stay noisy. Everything else is perfect.

Good location
The Sailors Rest is in a good location within Appledore, close to the main car park. The room was clean, as was the communal access. The view from Room 3 was excellent.
A shaver point and shelf in the bathroom would be really helpful, but other than that everything was fine.
The room was pleasant and modern with wonderful estuary views. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided but the lack of housekeeping meant trying to wash cups and glasses in the tiny sink. Towels were not changed and bins not emptied. Breakfast at a nearby hotel consisted of a cooked main course and one drink with guests charged extra for hot drinks if they had fruit juice. I have never encountered such frugality on any previous breakfast inclusive stay.

This superior room could not have a better view of Instow and the river, but the breakfast facility is too far away for a couple in their 70's. Unfortunately a radiator fell off the wall during our stay. It was fixed within a couple of hours of us reporting it, but we didn't receive any personal contact or apology for it. It isn't the cheapest B&B in Appledore but I would stay there again.
Amazing place to stay! If your 6ft, don’t go in Room 6! Breakfast was amazing, I’m missing it already! Definitely worth staying here! Highly recommended !
Lovely place, super modern rooms and very clean throughout. The breakfast was really nice in the Royal George and there was a good amount of information in the room about the local area.
All Good with accommodation...Difficult getting key

The room was very spacious and well presented. We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor which is right on the street so you do get the noise of traffic and passers by.
We stayed at the Sailors rest which was a lovely room, very clean although we did find the room quite warm, you would defiantly need a fan in there if it was the heat of summer. There also wasn't much of storage to put your clothes.
Excellent location opposite the quay. We had the ground floor and was really impressed with the size and layout of the room. Very tastefully decorated and clean. Loved the extra touch of coffee machine, milk and bottles of water in the mini fridge.
Only criticism is felt the windows needed some privacy from people walking past looking in otherwise excellent room.
Well located, easy self access. We were in Room1 on the groundfloor. Very spacious and well presented. Fresh milk in the fridge, small but reasonable selection of teas and coffees. Good bed linen and towels. Good breakfast at the Royal George, a few minutes walk away. We also had an excellent dinner there. Friendly, attentive staff. 2 small negatives…Slighty noisy from the pedestrians walking past. When you turn the lights off, the green emergency exit light is quite bright. Overall, I’m very happy to recommend Sailor’s Rest.
Great location, comfortable and clean room. Nice décor, towels and finishing touches. Nespresso machine in room which was great but bring your own pods and the local shop doesn’t stock them.
Dog friendly which is great and many of the local shops/cafe allow dogs too.
One consideration for anyone staying is the level of noise from the road due to sash windows. This is not something the business can do anything about but I would suggest that light sleepers might need to consider this and bring their earplugs.
Great view, you can watch the world go by for hours.
We loved the room, it was clean and with a great view.
However, we were very disappointed by the service at the restaurant where we had breakfast. The lady there who I suppose is the owner made us feel unwelcomed, because due to their mistake for some reason our breakfast as they said was not included, but our rate on hotels.com did, so it was unprofessional of her to talk in the way she did and explain to us something that is not our fault in any way. So we felt like we did something wrong, not nice. However, there was a very kind gentleman and a young lady that were very helpful, and friendly and made us feel better and enjoy our breakfast there on one of the days. This hotel doesn't offer room cleaning explaining it as covid related. Check-out is at 10 00 which is quite early, and you need to pay if you want to stay longer. Overall, the location is good, the room is new and clean, and lots of places to see in North Devon.
Newly refurbed guesthouse, nice position with views over the estuary. Very friendly service and excellent breakfast at the Royal George which owns it. Only odd thing is the 5-10 minute walk in between.
