We stayed at the Mercure recently and while there were a few hiccups, I’m giving an extra star simply because the staff were so lovely. Maciej and the reception team were particularly brilliant – incredibly helpful, kind, and genuinely went out of their way to make our stay easier. They helped my husband print his exam notes for free, and were really accommodating when it came to storing my medication that needed strict temperature control. That kind of thoughtful service really does go a long way.
The housekeeping team were also great – friendly and the room was very clean. However, the room itself was a bit smaller than we expected and didn’t have a fridge or microwave. I know a lot of hotels seem to be moving away from offering those now, but it’s still worth noting. A couple of bits in the room could do with attention too – the iron was slightly broken and the shower handles were a bit wobbly. The drainage in the shower wasn’t the best either, with water pooling quite quickly.
We mainly chose this hotel for the hot tub, so it was a shame that it was out of order during our visit. The pool, steam room and sauna were nice to use though, and I even joined in on a couple of classes which were fun. The leisure area overall could do with a bit of a refresh – there’s a bit of rust around and it does get quite busy, as it seems to be shared with local members.
Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but it did the job.
