Welcome to Longview Cottage!

Restful views across a farm valley and sunrise over the Parkway await you.

Located outside Blowing Rock, Longview Cottage is on Appalachian Ski Mountain, near the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Cone Manor House. It is just a short drive to Boone or Blowing Rock and other High Country attractions and amenities. Longview offers homey comforts and vacation cabin amenities for a romantic getaway for two, or a comfortable family retreat for five.

Longview Cottage is a 2 bedroom/2 bath, single-level home with 150-degree pastoral and mountain views. Furnished with beautiful antiques and art, it is a perfect getaway for anyone.

Longview Cottage is equipped with three cable TVs, a DVD player with a wide assortment of DVDs, games, and books. It has wireless internet access, ceiling fans in both bedrooms, a washer and dryer, a nice gas wood stove for cooler nights, and air conditioning for the warmer summer days.

This home has a wonderful split deck/porch where you can sit outside and enjoy the views and cool crisp mountain air no matter the weather. Sit under the porch if you like shade, or if you need a dry place to read a book on a misty day. Sit out and dine in the open air and enjoy the distant vistas. The porch/deck is a wonderful outdoor living room. It has a gas grill, a table with chairs, chaise lounges, a swing, and a hammock. It is surrounded by wildflowers and wild garden plants. The spacious living room and well-equipped eat-in kitchen's large windows bring the views inside, while the hardwood floors, oriental carpets, and the stone accent wall in the living room convey elegance and warmth.

*Pets are allowed with an additional pet fee. There is a dog crate included!

This home is located on Flat Top Road and has plenty of paved parking for two or three cars. Although the driveway is paved, you may need a 4-wheel drive if there is a large amount of snow in the winter. The driveway gets good early morning sun and usually clears off nicely, but can be difficult with heavy snow.

Views, privacy, convenience to all the area activities, Longview Cottage is a wonderful place to visit!

We had a wonderful quiet weekend here! The views were beautiful and the fireplace added the perfect dose of coziness. Also loved diving into the puzzles and games stocked at the house. The king bed was wonderfully comfortable as well. Would stay again! My only note is if you have a low clearance vehicle the driveway might be a bit tricky. We had a 4wd suv so it was not a problem but it is very steep.

Amazing views. Very steep driveway but we had no trouble with our Mazda. Only slightly challenging. House was cozy, homey and clean. Front deck has awesome views of mountains and the valley below. Good location as its close to town but quiet and next to the Parkway.

Loved the interior of house. Exterior and yard were in poor shape. Great view, good location, close to parkway and everything in Blowing Rock. Kitchen very well stocked with everything you could need. Problem with garbage cans outside. Raccoons or something got into them several nights while we were there.

Thoughtful details and a stunning view

This cabin is full of interesting details and the view is stunning. It’s right around the corner from the Appalachian ski mountain. We all learned to ski and were able to warm up by the fire each night with a hot tea each night with the electric tea kettle. We had a wonderful family trip!

Ski weekend at cottage

Our stay at the cottage was wonderful. It was a great place to stay for a few ski days at Appalachian Ski Resort which was a five minute drive away. We had 4 adults and one kid and it was nice and cozy. Great views from the cabin with a wonderful deck and grill. If you are staying more than a couple of nights, recommend bringing items like paper towel, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, etc

New Year's at Longview

Nice view, ample and well equipped kitchen, great hot stove. Unfortunate location of the hot water heater in guest room closet makes it difficult to sleep in that room because the boiler noise is loud. Area rugs looked dirty and the closets need to be organized and dusted. The beds are very comfortable and the bed sheets felt good quality. The listing makes the Cabin look bigger than it is, but for two couples and a child, it felt cozy and overall charming. Nora

Beautiful view - love the porch!

Had a great time - had most everything we needed. Comfy bed, clean bathrooms, adequate kitchen supplies, wonderful mountain view with chairs and tables, great privacy, good location near Blowing Rock, etc. However, there are a few suggestions to make a stay in this nice cabin even better. WiFi is spotty and drops off often, as do phone calls, but we realized we were way up high in the mountains, so it was not a huge issue. Better WiFi and cell service would have been helpful for us, but we were able to conduct Zoom meetings just fine. Next, there is some deferred maintenance that would improve the property - the lounge chairs on the porch really need new cushions - those thin ones were uncomfortable. Next, the nice tables on the porch are rusted, which can be remedied. Then, the wonderful cool mountain air from the windows towards the porch with the great view was an issue because to enjoy the air, the open windows had no screens, which caused bugs to invade the kitchen. We were puzzled as to why no screens on those windows. Then next, the sink really needs a new stopper/drain - current one is not usable. A Keurig coffee maker would have been better than the tired Mr. Coffee. Having said all that, the absolutely gorgeous hydrangeas on the porch were stunning - that was in late August (where we live, they are gone by July!). I hope our suggestions don't sound too negative - we loved our stay - we just want the owners to know that perhaps renters more updating for the price paid. Thanks.

Blowing Rock Charmer

Longview Cottage was in a great location- short drive to Blowing Rock, easy access to property but high enough for a pretty view. Inside has been completely updated and comfortably furnished in “cabin” motif. The more we settled in the more attention to detail we noticed. We spent our mornings and evenings on the covered porch enjoying the view and lovely temperatures. We liked the privacy of the property. Kitchen was well equipped with dishes and cookware. Property is immaculate. Our only suggestion would be to replace the lovely vintage dressers in the bedrooms. When we arrived, the property had not been rented for a few days and there was a very strong musty smell in both bedrooms. We discovered that as in many vintage wood pieces, the drawers had a very musty smell even tho sachets had been placed in the drawers. We solved the problem by keeping our clothes out of the drawers, lowering the AC temperature and keeping ceiling fans on low. The odor was completely gone within a few hours. It would have been nice to use the dressers but not a deal breaker. The rental company personnel were great to work with. Information for check in/out was timely. Staff were personable and easy to contact and available. We would definitely rent this property again.

A gem!

This cottage is a gem. It's very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, and Cone Manor. There is a beautiful view from the front porch. The bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. I highly recommend this home.

Lovely Home with Gorgeous Mountain View

Longview Cottage is a beautifully decorated home with plenty of windows to take in gorgeous mountain views. The open floor plan provides plenty of space for dining and entertaining. Kitchen is nicely appointed for cooking. The deck has a covered portion and an uncovered portion. Both are spacious and inviting with comfortable sitting and dining areas. Landscaping is well maintained. Enjoyed having just two steps to enter home. This makes it a breeze when packing and unpacking car. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at Longview Cottage. Plenty of room for the two of us, but cabin can easily accommodate two couples,. We look forward to a return visit.
