“We normally celebrate out anniversaries on the North Coast but for our 40th, we opted for a redwoods retreat closer to home. Wow, did we score. The Cottage in the Woods is a perfect getaway for two. The Cottage looks like new, is very well appointed and stocked with items you seldom see in a vacation rental. The location, right beside La Honda Creek is lovely. Pros- working tv with cable, hot tub was hot and clean, plates were nice and plentiful, beds were incredibly comfortable from the mattress to the sheets, couch was comfy. Cons- the trash in the kitchen was completely full when we arrived(we had to take it out). the bath tub in the master bedroom was dirty with hair in the tub from the person before us. “The couch is not very comfortable for sleeping. The internet was down for our three day stay. Cell service is minimal at best. All that aside, the place is beautiful and the river is a nice teat. Ride the steam train while you are there.”
