Charming Casa Selah with FiberOp near the Beach!

Casa Selah (SAY lah) is situated down a short gravel road from Playa Negra. You can walk or bike (or taxi or drive) into the town of Old Harbour (Puerto Viejo). Other beaches (Playa Cocles, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva) are a bike ride (or short drive) down the main road. Each beach has its unique qualities.



Casa Selah is quaint and rustic, clean and comfortable.



The heart of Casa Selah is on the second floor, access by outdoor stairs. You will spend most of your time on the breezy second floor veranda, lounging in the hammock or sitting in the comfortable deck chairs - enjoying the breeze, the stars, the ocean waves to the front, and the animal and bird chatter in the jungle behind.



Indoors on the second floor there is a kitchen area, open to an indoor common/lounge area. The kitchen is clean and simple: equipped with a gas stove, pots/pans, electric coffee pot, microwave, etc. As of summer 2019, there is an indoor dining table with bench seating. In the upstairs common area there is also a comfy oversized custom-built sofa for indoor lounging.



The second floor also has a roomy private bedroom with a king-size bed and closets, and a bathroom with shower. (Note, the bathroom walls do not extend all the way up to the vaulted thatched roof.)



Downstairs on the first floor, accessed by a separate outside entrance, you will find a second living space with both a double bed and a single bed. There is an indoor seating area, and a bathroom with shower. There is also a clothing rack in the downstairs bedroom. The downstairs outdoor patio is spacious, and comfortable with outdoor cushioned furniture.



The separation of the two living areas provides privacy and makes staying at Casa Selah perfect for single guests, one or two couples, and families with older children.



Casa Selah is in an area of Costa Rica is known for its rich ethnic, cultural, and bio- diversity, and for its natural beauty. It has a tropical climate with beaches on one side and jungle on the other. Therefore, the weather is often humid and you will most likely encounter insects and some animals. You are likely to see (and hear!) howler monkeys in the trees and see sloths lazing in the branches. There’s an abundance of flora and fauna (toucans, morpho butterflies, hummingbirds, and more).



Casa Selah is built for comfort: Even without air conditioning, the home rarely gets too hot. The home’s architecture (especially the pitched thatch roof), the ceiling fans in each bedroom and on the veranda, and the screened windows and doors all contribute to your comfort while at the same time you can feel part of the natural environment.
