Sandcastle is a BEAUTIFUL home!!! Very open yet many “pockets” for privacy for a large group. Super short walk to the beach going down the secret path next to the cemetery.

Beautiful, Spacious Home

Location is excellent - beaches closeby and walk to restaurant and stores. Check in was delayed slightly but quickly addressed. Ample room in the home to accommodate 10 family members comfortably and spaciously.

Great choice!

Great home with a great location to restaurants, beach and an amazing sunrise. We had a party of 15 and there was more than enough room to accommodate. Some minor issues but the property manager took care of it right away. Excellent communication from the property manager throughout. I would definitely rent again!

Spring break get away

We stayed at Sandcastle in Captiva for a week for our High School spring break. 2 families of 4 adults and 7 teenagers total. The house is spacious and well appointed as advertised. It’s very close to the beach, the Island Store and Provisions as well as the Green Flash restaurant across the street . It is a quiet area and not overly crowded The house was very clean. The pool and hottub are nice but the pool lights didn’t work and a fountain was filled with stagnant water. The 2 kitchens were great but none of the ice makers were working The rental company was extremely responsive and attempted to fix any small problems. Overall this stay was a great experience and we’d definitely recommend this property for a group

New Years family vacation

Describing the house as spectacular is an understatement. Five balconies, 7 bedrooms and 2 kitchens. Great view of the bay and walking distance to everything. And an elevator to get your luggage up to the third floor. Not inexpensive but worth every penny. Very responsive owner to our requests. We have spent many vacation weeks on Sanibel and Captiva and this by far was the nicest home. There were 16 of us and we had a blast.

We had a wonderful week at Sandcastle! We were able to walk to the beach in around 5-10 minutes but I would suggest a golf cart or car to get any chairs, coolers, umbrellas, etc to the beach. It’s a bit far to carry a lot of stuff.

Nice house when it was new.

The house is listed for sale for 4.9m. If all the deferred Maintenance was addressed it would be nice. We found over 50 things that were broken and not maintained including NO AC on the 2nd floor. All 3 ice makers having no filters and not in working order. I would stead clear of this property!

Skip this house, but very responsive landlord/agent

My party and I had significant issues, beginning with a broken 3rd floor air conditioner making the top floor (with the 2 largest bedrooms. primary kitchen and Living Room) unbearably hot. I don't wish to provide specifics, but we ended up with an even bigger problem that required us to be re-accommodated to another house during our stay. This issue came to light on Memorial Day, and we were quickly put in touch with someone from Dream Vacation Rentals based in the US that got us into a different house on the same day. I can't say enough good things about how they responded to the issue, though I would have far preferred to never have these issues on a 7 day vacation in the first place. As it relates to this house specifically, it's nice but dated. It also has an odd layout. 2 of the 7 bedrooms can only be accessed by leaving the main house, and those 2 aren't even connected to each other. It's not a big issue, it's just strange. Other issues: 1 of the garage doors didn't work. The clothes washer in the garage had moldy towels in it upon our arrival. The pool deck wasn't clean upon arrival. The 3rd floor was 86 degrees. The 2nd floor sink leaked. The 2nd floor ice machine, beach cart, primary refrigerator freezer and ping pong paddles were all broken. I would not rent this house again, but would be open to renting from Dream Vacation Rentals in the future.
