City Palace Hotel

4/10 Poor

"No TV, no fridge, no microwave. Elevator would get stuck between levels commonly. Elevator buttons don’t stay in the wall. Rooms are mostly clean but bathrooms are outdated with old toilet that sometimes doesn’t flush. Hair is always found on the towels which are also dirty. Carpet also seems like it was never vacuumed. There were a couple of dead bugs. Keycards for the hotel room doors will randomly stop working. Staff is mostly friendly. Lobby and lobby bar is clean. Breakfast has decent variety."

"I arrived in the middle of the night and the reception is open 24/7 - contrary to what is written on hotels.com Room was good, AC working well, hot shower, clean, good WiFi. No noise. Breakfast is very nice though I don't know if they serve anything hot (eggs etc, I didn't ask or check) The highlight is the courtyard. I had to work in the morning and that was such a nice place to work from (and have breakfast too). Staff does not speak much English but it was enough to make it work! "

"Reasonable hotel option. Pros: Building nice, rooms clean and comfortable though on the smaller side. Breakfast was terrific. Cons: no gym or fitness centre. Pool wasn't open in May 2026. The Barfly bar requires a 25000 KZT minimum tab for Friday and Saturday nights. Prohibitive if you're a solo traveller and want to have a (overpriced) beer up in the bar."

"The Sheraton Astana is a standout choice in the city. The property is impeccably maintained with a sleek, modern aesthetic. What truly sets it apart is the staff; they are attentive, professional, and go out of their way to ensure a seamless stay. The rooms offer a perfect blend of comfort and functionality, and the central location makes it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. Highly recommended for both business and leisure travelers."
