Girls' Trip

Amazing house in a wonderful location. Close to downtown Folly and 15-20 minutes to downtown Charleston. We would definitely rent this house again.

Great.Beach.House

Premium location walkable to Center Street and the Pier. Immaculate condition and furnishings. Well stocked kitchen with ample place settings and a variety of cooking utensils and pans including a crab pot and plates for kids. Bedroom and bathroom layout conducive to groups. Off street parking for several vehicles which is necessity on weekends or high season. Wide, immaculate beach at the end of the private dune walkway. Top Marks all around.

Dream beach front home

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property. The location is amazing with a private walk straight out to the beach to take in a beautiful sunrise. The home was well equipped with all the kitchen necessities needed to make our stay amazing. We stayed at this property over the new year and got to experience New Year's Eve Foley Beach style with the iconic flip flop drop! When we arrived, we were greeted with sweet New Year's welcome hats and necklaces to help us celebrate. This property is also just a short drive away to downtown Charleston where you can visit historical sites and try lots of delicious food. We definitely recommend this property if you have a larger family and would love the opportunity to stay again.

Best of Folly

This house has the best vibe. The views from every room are outstanding and very peaceful. We saw dolphins and fish and enjoyed the lovely surf. Every room is well-appointed—even the kids' room is light and airy. The home is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. Worth every single penny!

Fist time to Folly

Disappointed in the cleanliness of the furnishing. Living area, bar stools, patio furniture very stained. Communication and check in were great and location excellent. Had a few issues during our stay that we dealt with and will let the local rental agency know

Family Vacation

This property was sparkling clean and the management company was very responsive to a minor problem. The house floor plan was perfect for our 3 family beach vacation, and the high quality of the furnishings added to our enjoyment. Very convenient to the local town which is within walking distance.

The house is spectacular. Enough room for all but also with enough tv’s for individual preferences. Everything is as good as it looks in the pictures. No surprises. Would definitely come back.

We had enough towels, for everyone, 10 adults. The house was clean. The outdoor grill had brushes so we could clean it to use. Very convenient to the water and town and even a short distance to Charleston. Beach was very clean. Convenient to grocery stores and supplies.

Great vacation!

Awesome house! Beach view from every room. Walk to town and pier. Great boardwalk to ocean. Pleasant new home furnished nicely and well stocked. The only essentials missing were beach towels. The owners should consider adding those to the furnishings as they are bulky for guests to pack.

Last minute get away

We typically do 4-6 VRBO trips a year with family and friends. This was a last minute trip to Folly Beach with my sister and our husbands. This house was one of the best decorated and well stocked of the many homes we have stayed in. My sister and I wanted to duplicate everything and take it home! It was in the PERFECT location on the beach and was very clean and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your home with us :)

Very clean and pretty...

This is a brand new home right on the beach and within walking distance to downtown...It has high end appliances and fully equipped with everything you might need. We had a great time and loved the upper deck...we spent a lot of time up there. The views from all the bedrooms were excellent...ocean views. There were only 4 adults and a baby and we had a ton of room...too much for just the 5 of us...but we felt like we didn't get in each others way at all....Highly recommend this cottage....very, very nice :)

As Advertised

This property is exactly as advertised. Beautiful house right on the beach and only a 5 minute walk to the bars/restaurants on Folly Beach. The communication was also outstanding with the property manager. One thing to note, normally with rentals like this, the pictures look beautiful and staging looks like it is out of a magazine, then you go to sit on the couch or sleep and everything is beyond uncomfortable. Not with this place. The beds and linens were hotel grade. The furniture was all very comfortable to our surprise. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place on the water and close to Charleston.

So much potential but beds are terrible + all of our reported issues need to be addressed ASAP

Overall, we enjoyed our stay only because of: time with family, the incredible views and the convenience of having the wonderful boardwalk with the rinse off- that was all spectacular. However, I would really suggest blocking time off from renting for this house so that all of the issues that are being avoided can be properly addressed: The overwhelming smell (of what I can only describe as putrid/stale urine) coming from the main master closet on level 1, the mold/mildew accumulation on the bathroom ceilings on level 3, the water leak coming out of the kitchen oven hood, and the loud continual thud coming from the elevator. The absolutely disgusting smell in the master closet on the main level was too much to bear. We could hardly sleep at night because of it but were afraid to leave the door shut for too long or all of our things would be covered (they are). There is a separate locked closet inside of the closet- not sure if that’s where the smell is coming from, but it definitely needs to be tracked down and addressed ASAP. The mold/mildew and leaks in the ceilings of the bathrooms upstairs is pretty glaring. Not only does it look bad, but having dirty water drip-drop on your head while using the toilet is pretty gross. And whatever made water randomly gush out of the kitchen oven hood (a place no water should be and was probably why it didn’t work properly- smoke alarms went off every time we used it and the light function didn’t work) needs to be sourced and addressed immediately. No idea what’s wrong with the elevator but about every 30 mins or so it would make a huge loud thud/mechanical sound. Kept waking the light sleepers in the house all night. The technician that was sent out to”fix our issues” looked at them, said he would file a report and left claiming he fixed the bathroom lock- he didn’t. Other things I always note in reviews were comfort items and beds. We searched every room and closet on arrival and couldn’t find but ONE extra blanket in the whole house. We had family from ages 6-69 in the house and when asked about their beds no one had a good bed to report. Highly suggest this home invest in upgraded mattresses because a good nights sleep and make or break a stay and the mattresses in this home, unfortunately, are terrible (I slept on the floor because it was better than our bed). Sadly, first house in 13+ years I wouldn’t stay in again or recommend unless all issues are properly addressed.

Absolutely Spectacular

Our extended family had an absolutely spectacular time at this gorgeous home! The house is beautiful, and the living is really spread across 4 floors. The beach level isn't featured in the listing, but has a terrific setup with a grill, oversized picnic tables and relaxing chairs as well as a spacious outdoor shower. There are also outlets for an electric golf cart to charge. There is a lawn that was perfect for Corn Hole and we enjoyed this outdoor space. The next level is actually the first level of the home and features the Master Bedroom with walk in closet and ensuite bath. The bunk room is also on this level with 4 beds (2 of which are trundles) and a 3/4 bath. There is also a screened in porch on this level as well as access to the boardwalk to the beach. The next floor is the main floor of the home and features a large, very well stocked kitchen, a dining area that easily seats 10 (plus 4 at the kitchen counter), the family room and a queen bedroom and a 3/4 bath.. Lastly, the top floor features 2 lovely bedrooms, an entertaining bar area with a beverage fridge, a 3/4 bath and a 1/2 bath. The jewel is the huge deck on this floor that provided stunning views and the super comfortable lounge furniture - wow! The communication with the host was timely, proactive and their follow up was great. Unfortunately, the elevator broke down just before our check in, but they were able to get the repair service out on our 3rd day and got it fixed and running. The grill was also out of propane, but they had someone over quickly with a new tank. Our only disappointment was that the Master Bedroom only had a queen bed, despite having plenty of room for a King. In a house of this size and cost, a King bed is really to be expected. The boardwalk is fabulous and takes you right to the beach. There are 2 different seating areas on it, which allowed for conversation areas and terrific viewing of the sunrise each morning. There is also a shower right on the boardwalk to clean off sand before you get to the house. One of the best suprises was the location of this property, which is just 3 blocks from the center of town. Easy walk into town, and a gorgeous stretch of beach that was not at all crowded (be warned - some areas of Folly Beach have very little beach room - this spot is perfect). You cannot go wrong renting this amazing property! Thank you Swell Life Team for a vacation setting of a lifetime!

Best view ever!

The Swell Life House is an amazing property! The house has everything you need to have a great vacation! The short stroll in to town was wonderful. The views of the sunrise and sunsets are fantastic! It was perfect for our large family. We will return.
