Lodge Alley Inn is a very quaint place, walking distance to everything. Enjoyed our stay! People so nice with that southern hospitality!!
Would stay there again!!!
We stayed here over the Fourth of July. It was a great location to see the fireworks and be near the heart of Charleston. The stay is a room in a very nice hotel. Nice kitchenette. BTW there is a great little restaurant next door called Ruby Sunshine.
staff so helpful .Cindy at the front dest was so nice and very helpful.
Location was the best.the place was nice but could have been cleaner.a very far walk to room from front desk because we ar in our 80's
Room was the perfect size for me and my crew. It was so close to everything we wanted to see. Clean & comforting spot to come back to after a day of exploring.
The young groundskeeper/ maintenance man was constantly working to keep the relaxing & beautiful outdoor place spotless. Shout out to them!
Beautiful accommodation within walking distance of everything!
Lodge Alley Inn is a lovely, clean, charming place right in the heart of Charleston's historic district. The room was as described. The staff were friendly and helpful. Important to be aware your room may be multilevel with lots of stairs. Also, you may not be communicating directly with the owner. Lodge Alley is a Bluegreen Vacation Club, and we had two confirmation numbers, one with BlueGreen and one with a third party, ResortShare. So modifying your reservation once you're checked in is cumbersome. Would DEFINITELY stay again!
The location is amazing. Once you park, you never need to get your car again unless you are heading to one of the islands. You do have to pay roughly 40.00 per day for valet. They may try to sell you a timeshare but we were able to avoid that. It’s a beautiful room with plenty of space, it’s updated and has good water pressure. Will stay there again.
We visited Charleston during the week in September and chose the Lodge Alley Inn for the incredible rate we got through VRBO compared to everything else around. The pictures of what was shown on VRBO was just like the loft-style room we stayed in. The room was extremely clean and well-kept and had way more amenities than we knew we were getting (full kitchen). The staff (and everyone in CHS for that matter) were extremely friendly. We could not beat the location - it was super easy to walk to a lot of bars and restaurants, take the water taxi across the harbor, and explore the charm of churches, old homes, and historical places by foot. We only ventured out via car on 2 days to get to places further out of town.
We read some complaints in reviews about noise and paying for valet parking, and here is our take on it: yes, when we were quiet and did not have the TV on, you could hear other guests in hallway or next door. However, I wouldn’t expect anything different from an older building given the historical part of town it is in. It was quiet during evening and morning hours when we were in the room, and we were never bothered by it, but we are easy-going. Valet parking was about $40/day and to us it was worth it! The parking situation in Charleston is chaotic, and it was much easier to let the valet drivers take our car and call for it 15min prior to when we wanted to leave, then try to find public parking ourselves that was close enough to walk to it.
We loved staying in the French Quarter. It was a great location and the staff was so friendly. Be aware that valet parking will charge you per day as opposed to per service. We would definitely stay here again!
The biggest issue, which is probably the largest complaint that anyone has of visiting downtown Charleston, is the absurdly expensive parking.
The Lodge Alley Inn is a marvelous and convenient place to stay and it is very affordable. I remember that back in 2006 when I signed up for a Bluegreen timeshare the parking was free or almost so.
The property was perfect in every way. The outside sitting space was quiet and very enjoyable, and the one bedroom condo fit our needs. It was attractive, furnished well and had all the kitchen items we needed. Thanks
We were supposed to stay Aug 5 - Aug 9. On Sunday Aug 4, we were watching the news for Charleston. The weather was showing a hurricane approaching. The chief of police issued a shelter in place order for the city for Tuesday thru Thursday. We made a decision to not come due to safety concerns. We contacted the property to see if we could get a refund. They said they were operating as normal and they were not issuing any refunds. It is hard to believe that anyone was coming and going in Charleston for that week as they were expecting historical rainfall that could pose deadly threats to life. It is VERY frustrating to have this company not work with us at all. Were we supposed to drive into a hurricane and check in to just sit in hiding all week? I wish I could give them zero stars but that is not an option. Be warned, they are only worried about their bottom line and not the safety of their patrons. I will never book with resortshare again, ever. Hell, we even booked a carriage ride and they didn't give us a refund even though they could not provide the service. If this is how the people of Charleston operate, my family and I do not want to visit. For me, it is not fun leaving bad reviews but I could not bring myself to stay quiet, people need to know how this company operates.
