This is a unique old home with a lot of character. We had to attend a funeral and found this home to accommodate our family. It is also very clean.

Great overall visit. Would happily come back.
One housekeeping issue; Downstairs toilet would occasionally run after flushing.Probably a new flapper is needed.

Regardless of what you need, the owners respond to messages quickly and do what they said they would do and answered our numerous questions. Charming home and we would stay there again. The location is super great and had 4 sitting areas so we could read by ourselves, sit and chat with others or let our little one roam.

We loved our stay in this charming and cozy home in downtown Charlevoix. We love older homes and this one was perfect. The hot tub was an added bonus!

This listing actually undersells the home, property, and location! First, the home was beautiful - the decor and amenities were modern and comfortable, yet deliberately matched the feel of the home. We did a lot of cooking and were impressed by how much was available for us to use - really good tools and utensils/pots and pans/even spices! The kitchen was so well equipped. There was plenty of room for us to gather - whether eating or lounging, as well as private space for work. It was such a warm and welcoming home - it was honestly hard to leave! The home is in a lovely neighborhood perfect for walks, but also within walking distance to town. Management was communicative during the booking/planning stage. We had a really beautiful stay w/ family there, and much of it was due to this wonderful space for us to gather in.

Our extended family enjoyed a week sharing this historic home located just steps from downtown Charlevoix. We found the location great for allowing flexibility to visit shops and restaurants, and the beautiful marina. Guests should know the home is located on a busy road and only has a small outside side deck to enjoy, the front yard is impacted by passing traffic.
The hosts were great, and very responsive to our needs and questions. The house has a ton of character and a unique experience vs other options in town. We had a great time staying in this one of a kind home.

We spent a lovely weekend in Charlevoix attending a wedding at Castle Farms. The following day we enjoyed Charlevoix, Bay Harbor and Petoskey! Beautiful home !

Having spent my career in museum work and historic preservation I am hesitant to rent historic houses. My experience is that such listings have often been stripped of character and "modernized" to look like a Home Depot ad. Or the reverse: Architectural details have been retained but so have the decades old mattresses, fixtures and systems. Charm can only take a guest so far if the house is uncomfortable...
But these hosts have struck the perfect, rare, balance of giving guests a feel of gracious "old Charlevoix" with the 21st century conveniences we've all grown to expect.
Importantly, everything works! The water is hot when you need it, the kitchen appliances are first rate, the beds/baths are equipped with high end mattresses, linen and towels. The gas insert fireplace is a welcome feature. Also appreciated is that the decor is obviously "curated", selected with great care and expertise. The hosts have achieved a feeling of warmth and heritage, not at all stuffy or prissy. Again, a rare balance. Kitchen utensils, cutlery, etc. are modern and functional not a hodgepodge of dull knives and yard sale finds. We did not use the washer/dryer but it, too, is conveniently located and appears new and high-end. And there is a garage, in addition to convenient street parking. There are ample spaces to work remotely. The floor plan also offers both private and group conversation spaces both inside and out.
The 4-star rating for "Location/Neighborhood" is based solely upon traffic noise. The house is a stone's throw from a busy highway. But the trade off is that the busy highway is also downtown Charlevoix's main street. So guests are just steps from restaurants, shops, people watching and boat watching. These hosts have several other equally impressive rental listings. If guests prefer a quieter neighborhood I have no doubt that one of these other houses will be perfect.
Communication with the owners was prompt and curteous. In summary, we celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary here. Rather than wasting time with the usual "what were they thinking" comments of another desecrated or unimproved historic house we celebrated our good fortune to find this listing!!!!
