A really nice place for a family stay

Family break

Great layout for extended family holiday, bed and pillows were spot on, one of the few places I have stayed where the bed and pillows suited me perfectly. Games room was fantastic and got a lot of use by all the family, having the separate conservatory, TV room and reading room as well as the games room meant if anyone wanted alone space they didn’t need to go to their bedroom which was great for those doing the odd bit of work while there.

A brilliant cottage in a good location,We as a famliy had a great time there, from cooking in the barbecue hut to spending time in the games room, the first I've seen on a guest cottage with a full size snooker table. Our granddaughter loved playing in tge spacious garden. A huge thanks to our host Samamtha and the team for providing a welcoming space for our holiday.

Loved it!

Loved staying here, 4 adults 3 kids and 3 dogs. Cottage had everything we needed and a big garden for dogs and kids. The kids loved the games room which is a super addition to any holiday. A great location for exploring…we went to Beadnell, Seahouses and Bamburgh beaches. The newly refurbished rooms were stunning! Will definitely be back one day. Sam and family are very friendly and couldn’t be more helpful.

Our 6th stay .....and not our last

We have just enjoyed our 6th stay at Shepherds Cottage and as ever this place delivered everything we hoped for the enjoyment and comfort of 10 humans ( aged 8 to 69 ) and the dog !! There have been some improvements since our last visit ....new sofas and flooring !! Sam and Stephen the hosts are as ever friendly and responsive !! ( They even bent over backwards to return my daughters sunglasses that she accidently left !! This time we tried a few new places ....Embleton beach and the Puffin Cruise from Seahouses ...( well worth the cost ) We are already looking to organise our next stay !!

unloved needs attention

overall the location ,the size and amenities are good. however the cleanliness was below our expectations.and some areas needed attention. The kitchen sink and washing up bowl were dirty. the front bathroom definitely needs upgrading and cleaning, The thermostat on the large oven isn't working, The tin opener is needs replacing. the oven trays also. The tv in the lounge was old with muffled sound and has to be retuned every time you turn it on if you want to watch BBC. The conservatory was lovely and we spent most of our time in there. The overall condition was not worth the high price and we will not return to this property.

Fantastic Family holiday

We had an absolutely fantastic family holiday at Shepherd’s Cottage ,it truly had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and memorable holiday. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a stunning welcome cake and lovely prosecco, these thoughtful touches made it feel extra special, the whole place was special to be honest. The games room was a huge hit as Sam had mentioned to me( you were spot on ), especially with the older kids and younger grandkids. It kept them entertained for the whole holiday, the bbq hut was fantastic everyone enjoyed a lovely night toasting marshmallows and making shmores, sharing laughs around the fire, and enjoying quality time together in such a beautiful setting. The cottage itself is lovely and clean, well-equipped, and full of charm. Everything has been considered to make all ages of guests feel at home, from the comfy beds to the fully stocked kitchen.( P.S it is massive and got lost a few times) It’s a perfect spot for making memories,we didn’t want to leave. Can’t recommend it highly enough for families looking for a peaceful, fun-filled holiday.

A perfect location for a family gathering

The cottage is bigger than i imagined and really well arranged two families with little children and granparents. Great garden , huge games room and bbq hut kept everyone happy.

Wonderful house

Another great stay at Shepherds Cottage. There were 10 of us & we are always amazed & delighted at the amount of living space. Perfect for different generations to spread out & enjoy themselves. Everyone loves the huge well equipped games room. The kitchen is well equipped & makes cooking easy if that’s what you plan. There are four large bedrooms all with en-suite. You don’t need to leave the property but there is plenty to see & do if you wish. We don’t think it can be beaten for size comfort location cleanliness. The owners a great & extremely helpful. It all adds up to the perfect holiday. We will be coming back.

Fantastic hosts as always, on hand to help but not intrusive.

Our second stay in this beautiful property, hosts are lovely and can't do enough for you. Wonderfully spacious and well equipped with lovely comfy beds. Highly recommended.

A lovely spacious house. Ideal for bringing the family together. The games room was a huge hit. The garden was perfect for the dogs. Beautiful views. Lovely cosy lounge with the fire. Lovely farmhouse kitchen. A very homely feel about the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely house for family celebration

Shepherd’s cottage is comfortable and deceptively spacious. Conservatory is beautiful, Games room is incredible and snooker and pool tables are as new. Bathrooms need an upgrade but I believe that’s going to happen in the near future. All in all a good choice for our family get- together!

Fantastic location and lovely cottage

Great for Family & Friends of all ages

The cottage is in the perfect location for exploring Northumberland,, or chilling in the huge sunny garden with a nice glass of wine, while food cooks in the BBQ hut, and children from 2- 90yrs old play in the enormous games room. The kitchen is well equipped with every utensil you can imagine, even has a mixer if you want to bake a cake,,, but that won't be necessary because the owners leave the most delicious cake, chocolate and wine on the big farmhouse size kitchen table to welcome you,, nice touch . The cottage itself is really well equipped, with very three very different and very comfortable sitting areas. The conservatory is best for sunsets, the small lounge for reading while small children play on the floor, and the main lounge for curling up in front of the log burner watching a good film. The bedrooms are all lovely with the added bonus of all having their own en-suite, this as you can imagine gives great privacy and saves on arguments of who's next for the shower, especially with big groups, and multiple families, as ours was. My husband and I rented the cottage for two weeks because of its central location, and to enable us to invite our adult children and grandchildren to come visit at different times. In total over the two weeks, we had 10 adults, 7 school children, 1 toddler and 3 dogs, and we all had a great time. What we didn't know, which was added bonus, was that in the original part of the cottage away from the other 3 bedrooms was a master bedroom, perfect for grandparents with views over the front and rear gardens. What's not to like, and the owners are so happy to help with anything you need. Happy Holiday was had by all.

Could be amazing

We so wanted to love Shepherd’s Cottage as it’s in a fantastic location and the layout and amenities ticked all our boxes, but sadly it didn’t compare well with the standard of other properties we’ve stayed at and paid similar for. In general the property felt unloved and a damn good clean would be a good start to putting things right. That said, it didn’t spoil a lovely weekend on the Northumberland coast.

Beautiful family cottage

Beautiful cottage great location 8 adults and 2 dogs , there was enough room to have time on your own if you wanted to . The indoor BBQ was great used it on a rainy day games room was a bonus’s for those night in . The cottage had everything you needed very comfortable beds great seating area .

Spectacular cottage in fabulous location

Love, love, loved it

As a group of 10 plus a dog, we hired the Cottage, Lodge and Bothy and we all had a fab holiday. Beds are very comfy, showers are powerful, fixtures and fittings are good quality and all rooms are spacious. The garden is great for the dog and we had 2 BBQ’s in the BBQ hut, which was great. Plus spent a good few hours playing pool, snooker, table tennis, and darts in the best games room we have ever seen. We had a couple of minor issues which were sorted out quickly and efficiently. Huge tables meant we all ate together and played games in the evening. The location is amazing, we walked to beautiful Beadnell beach, had coffee/drinks at The Landing. Did the pub quiz at Craster Arms, boat trip to see seals from Seahouses, visited Bamburgh Castle and Beach, hired e-bikes from Alnwick cycles and went into Warkworth, golf and horse riding at Hagerstown Castle, crabbing off Beadnell harbour - there is loads to do in the area. We were all sad to leave and would love to return. It’s a very special place. Oh we also got a lovely welcome hamper too, including a beautiful cake and dog treats too. Would really recommend a stay here, thank you very much Sam and Stephen x

2nd time here

We had such a great time in November 2022 that we decided to go back this year but in the lighter months of August so that we could enjoy longer days. the same as last year the cottage was very clean and had everything you would expect in equipment dishwasher, washing machine and a dryer, large fridge/freezer, very large oven and hob, we had plenty of towels and also beach towels. the conservatory is very large with a large dinning table and a couple of sofas, the main sitting room is very cosy and there is another large dinning room, the kitchen also has a large dinning table. there is plenty of space around the property for our 2 dogs, a BBQ hut which is fantastic , a Games room that we spent most of our time in in the evenings the beds are very comfortable . location is great for getting around as well.

Perfect facilities. Great for 8 oc us sharing

Shepherd cottage has really good facilities. We enjoyed them all. The cottage is charming. My only concern was the level of cleanliness. For example, the tables were sticky, the doors were dirty, evidence suggests they hadn't been cleaned for months. Furniture also needed cleaning. Otherwise very pleased.

Special birthday celebration

We booked an early birthday celebration for our 80 year old Mum to get the family altogether. What a perfect place we found. No interruptions from TV’s or other noises, games room which kept the “boys” entertained and the bbq hut which was the icing on the cake. A couple of minor issues upon arrival - lack of tea towels, oven gloves which were quickly resolved the following morning and the mattress in the family bedroom on the front of the house was horrific. We managed, we laughed, played and ate together the whole weekend, we will be back

Fantastic large family stay

We loved the layout and overall size of the property, not to mention the games room and BBQ pit in the garden. We couldn't have found a better location especially given the poor weather we experienced. It's got everything you need for a stay and we had a great time each and every day. There was the odd spot of dust here and there (under the beds) and a few cupboard doors need some attention but it didn't detract from the overall experience.

Lovely cottage for a big family gathering with dogs and kids - totally enclosed big garden so dogs and kids can run free - lots of inside and outside seating and tables for meals, and for people to do their own thing - 20 minutes walk to a lovely beach - brilliant games room Altogether highly recommended
