Enjoyable Stay

Really enjoyed our stay at Cub cottage, despite the weather. Excellent location with a good pub just over the road. A couple of minor things for the owners to fix up at some point, but nothing that spoils your stay.

Lovely relaxing cottage

Excellent comfortable little cottage in a lovely village. The space was fine for two people but maybe a bit cramped for more. Lots of interesting places around to visit.

Good location to stay for access to the Cotswolds

Lovely village to stay - pubs with good food, friendly staff. Good location to visit the area. Cottage good although few cobwebs and patio/front steps need weeding. Great shower with hot water. Freezer compartment would be helpful for ice packs and ice.

Beautiful Cosy Cottage!

Lovely cottage in the centre of Winchcombe. Warm and cosy, the cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. Sarah was super helpful and I felt that I could contact her if I needed anything. Would definitely stay again!

Great location, comfortable stay

Fantastic location with loads to do and see in vicinity. We were lucky to have exceptional weather so the bi fold doors and outside space were a real bonus. Would suggest the external space could do with a good jet wash or general tidy up. Upstairs space is a little cramped for 4 adults (bathroom is very tight) and recommend warning all tall people about the low beams, but we all slept well. All in all a lovely stay.

Cub cottage. New Year mini break

Lovely little dog friendly cottage in Winchcombe. Perfect for cosy winter stays, with the log fire burning and comfy seating. Perfect location for a stroll around this beautiful Cotswolds town/village. Lots of shops to browse and plenty of pubs and restaurants. Cub cottage front door is almost opposite a pub and a handy little Morrisons three doors up. It really is the perfect place for a mini break . Perfect for Cheltenham horse races too!

Fantastic stay at Cub Cottage

We've just returned home from visiting Cub Cottage for a long weekend. Cottage is absolutely stunning, beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean. Location is great, pub opposite is dog friendly and serves delicious food although I would recommend booking ahead. We visited a couple of the other pubs in the small town and all were welcoming. We didn't use the car for the duration of the stay, walked to the steam railway and caught the train to Broadway - well worth a visit. Went on a lovely circular walk up to Belas Knap long barrow and back via Sudeley Castle gatehouse. On our final day after check out we visited Daylesford Organics and Stow on the Wold to finish off a great weekend. Beds were super comfy, cottage was warm and we did light the log burner on a couple of evenings. Everything you would need in the kitchen. Some minor recommendations would be to provide some cleaning items (there wasn't any spray to clean the work surfaces), some starter logs for the logburner (none when we arrived) and a plug or washing up bowl for the kitchen sink. None of this detracted from our stay but might be useful for future visitors to know. This was our first time using StayCotswold so unsure of what to expect, there is no welcome pack of goodies or a book with any property instructions which we've been used to in other properties but again this did not detract from our stay. On a side note when we arrived the internet wasn't working but my husband found the router under the stairs which just needed to be turned on. All in all a wonderful weekend and I would certainly recommend Cub Cottage.

Cub Cottage, great property let down by cleanliness

Great property & location. Sadly, the property was not very clean. All light fitting had old cobwebs hanging from them. Folding doors to outside thick with dirt & cobwebs, as too was the bathroom window. Washing machine had a terrible smell, from the door not been left open. Fridge dirty, I had to clean before using it. No plug in kitchen sink or washing up bowl, although there was a dishwasher! No bath mat for bath/shower & no window covering of any type, even though there are properties behind. Pubic hair in one of the beds. Practically every drawer had something in, bulbs, cufflinks, letters etc. No welcome pack, letting you know what some of the local attractions are. Only one bin, nowhere to recycle & outside bin (in court yard) was 3/4 full with someone else's rubbish. No info on how to use fire or what can be used on it. It's a lovely cottage, but sadly the cleanliness let it down big time

A Little Tired

Whilst the cottage is very pleasant and for the most part comfortable, it is in need of a little TLC. The use of cream carpet on the stairs and throughout the upstairs seems a bit silly in a rental property as it was really quite grubby and stained throughout. The decor needs rejuvenating along with some attention to the smaller problems ie: there is no plug in the kitchen sink (this was mentioned in a previous visitor’s feedback). Furthermore, there was no bowl either - they don’t cost much, please provide one or the other. There must be something about plugs in this cottage: the one in the bathroom basin doesn’t work (not sealing) and to boot, the bath plug doesn’t seal either!! Three quick repairs/provides could solve these issues and stop some negative feedback. Unfortunately on our last evening in the cottage there was a lot of heavy rain, this resulted in the kitchen ceiling (flat roof extension) leaking water through two light fittings. There was water everywhere which we spent some time mopping up to prevent us slipping but unfortunately again, there was no bowl or bucket to place below the leaks. We ended up using an ice cooler bucket to catch the worst of the leaks. Of course, we couldn’t therefore use the kitchen lights that evening. I did try to ring the emergency help line without success but managed to contact them via email and they advised they would get someone to look at the following day. All in all a disappointing end to our weekend but not spoiled altogether. Just perhaps, give this tired little cottage so deserved attention - the minor details really help.
