I asked a non smoke room, even they have one but did not want to switch for me. No water, no coffee, waited a long time to check in.

This has been the WORST experience I have ever had with a hotel in Japan. I’ve lived in Japan for 6 years as a foreigner. This was the last hotel I would have ever stayed in Japan because at the time of the booking I was moving back to the United States. I booked this room on November 11, 2024. I booked for 1 night, November 13-14, 2024. I only booked this hotel because it was advertised as “pet friendly” and proximity to the airport. I looked through multiple hotels in the area making sure it was not only “pet friendly” but that it didn’t have restrictions on their pet policy. For instance a lot of other hotels would advertise as “pet friendly” but then when I’d click the “see more information on this property” it would have more information in the pet policy stating that it was only “dog friendly”. This hotel did not have that restriction at the time of the booking. Check in day come around and I have my cat in his carrier and my heavy luggage which I place down before checking in with the hotel. Later I come down and disclose to that I have a cat with me. I was asked to leave the hotel because cats were not allowed and when I expressed that the hotel was advertised as “pet friendly” on Expedia she just reiterated that cats were not allowed and refused me a refund. I’ve tried going through Expedia with the issue and to no avail as the hotel refuse to take responsibility on the fact there was no clear communication regarding their pet policy at the time.
