Large modern house with good location

6 of us stayed here for 1 night and really enjoyed it. There was plenty of space to eat and relax. There's two bathrooms but only the one downstairs has a shower which wasn't ideal. However, the fact it was so close to the New Forest and the beach at Highcliffe made up for this. Make sure you bring your own towels and toilet paper as only 1.5 rolls were provided. Overall a good stay and would come back

Luckily it all worked out

I was very stressed at not having the actual address until a day before we set off, especially as the landlord had stated no refunds and I had visions of trying to sort out a mess caused by not having the exact place we were going. However, felt happier when the information finally arrived - note for the future - perhaps that info could be sent with the confirmation of booking?

Not as advertised

Garden was a square of sparse grass, 18ft hedge with access for next door dog. Patio was small, old wood table, not a nice place to sit. Front hedges were overgrown masking property which is part of a detached house in suburban street. Dogs not allowed upstairs but no gate to prevent this. One of the beds was on a tilt. No information until night before arrival. Would not stay there again, inside OK but outside not niice

3 night break

Stayed for 3 nights in February. It was fine for we wanted as a base and for the price. Location great for lots of beaches and the new forest. Small shop and pub in walking distance. Parking for the property is on the road and we easily found a space. The property is spacious and the bedding clean, however it is tired and a little tlc needed. Kitchen needs equipment replacing, the oven door was broken and the knobs were starting to melt, really needs urgent attention. Kitchen utensils are like something from a children's play kitchen, not great when cooking for a family. Frying pan needs urgent replacement, rusty and dirty. There is only one shower so if there were 8 staying you would be queuing. Finally the garden, also in need of tlc. Very small and tatty, but could be made good. Decking has a hole in it so beware of small feet getting stuck, this needs urgent attention. With a little attention to detail, could be lovely.

Crosbie cottage

Great location for walk to beach. Front is tired and garden needed tidying. Back garden very small- not great for children or sitting as a group outside for meals. Parking is on the road. Inside is spacious with good size kitchen, dining and lounge areas though 2 of the 4 bedrooms very cramped. One has no wardrobe, another has two single beds but they are child width so adults have an uncomfortable night. Blinds at the windows have holes and need renewing in two of the bedrooms. Great cooker but fridge/ freezer is small and temperature regulator does not work to get the food cold enough. Only one shower ( very small) for the house and one bath. Difficult if multiple couples are staying. Top bathroom sink leaks if emptying the basin. Very strict rules and cleaner / owner arrives 15 minutes before you should leave. Waits behind the cars as we are loading to go. quite intimidating. We enjoyed our stay but there were many niggling issues about the house being tired and user unfriendly. Needs repairs and some items replaced.

Good location for beaches and forest

The property was very clean, no problems with parking in road. Very good family pub round corner and shop at end of road. The only way this property could be improved was a bigger fridge freezer, (freezer had not been emptied on our arrival was full of other people's food and needed defrosting.) We left it as we found it. Cooker knobs need to be replaced, dirty and signs were missing oven door got dangerous hot. We had to descale the paddles on the dish water to get it working properly. Garden was a disappointment, decking needs attention, trip hazard. Grass needed cutting. An enormous 12ft high laurel hedge on one side cut out all the afternoon sun. Was not dog proof. Wifi very poor, an important zoom meeting was very difficult. Having said that we did enjoy our stay at crosbie cottage.

4 Night Break

Initial communication was not good and only received a response after contacting Vrbo. When comms did arrive these were very clear and accurate. The property itself is newly painted but, there was dust a dirt under the sofa and edge of the doors and inside one draw needed a good dusting out. Other than that the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Other comments have mentioned the bathroom needing a shower and we’d agree. Could also do with a mirror in the toilet/shower room. Location excellent.

Comfortable and peaceful home

The property was clean, quiet and well-appointed. All the arrangements were clear. We had a very enjoyable stay. The beach at Chewton Bunny was a pleasant 20 minute walk; there are a couple of good pubs in easy walking distance; and it was a convenient base from which to explore the New Forest. You need to take your own towels, and there is only the one shower (downstairs). It would be a great addition to add a shower head and screen over the bath upstairs.
