  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Just got back from a trip, and I have to say the hotel was spotless! The staff was super friendly and helpful with everything we needed. I was really impressed with how smoothly everything ran. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a relaxing getaway!

My room was very clean and functional. I liked the flat screen up on the wall and closet layout next to it. Lots of space in the room. Very nice bathroom and shower. The only item that did not work was the coffee make in the room, which I told the man at the front desk about. I will stay here again. Nice place.

This facility has been remodeled. It is clean. The manager was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The staff were friendly. The only thing I saw was that the pool needs renovated and the water was cold. We were extremely happy with this hotel.

Friendly staff, the room looked really nice. The couch looked crammed. The lobby looks full...too many couches not enough staff for luggage and ppl checking in, you just feel in the way. The downfall was the bathtub! The faucet was SUPER HARD to open! And everything else was loose. The tub felt unstable. Other than that, everything including breakfast was great!

There were some brown spots on one of the comforters snd sadly the pool was down. The hotel room was very nice and inviting and the tv was huge. The hotel also provided Dove Products in the bathroom ( hand soap, bodywash shampoo and conditioner)
