Columbus Monument

The lift inside the tower will take you up 60 metres above the ground. It was meant to be a tribute to Christopher Columbus. You'll find it at the end of La Rambla, where it's been since 1888.

This monument to Christopher Columbus was erected in honor of his first voyage to the Americas. This statue stands as a reminder to all that Columbus reported to Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand V in Barcelona after his first trip across the ocean blue.

The monument of Christopher Columbus was constructed at the site where Christopher Columbus first returned to Spain after his most famous voyage to the Americas. The sculptor Rafael Atche was supposed to depict Columbus pointing towards the New World, instead he is in fact pointing west towards his home in Genoa. The word "Tierra" (land) is inscribed.
