Family fun

The house was very comfortable and clean. Great area and very peaceful. Saw lots of deer. House was very kid friendly. We had our 2-1/2 year old granddaughter with us and she had a ball. Would definitely recommend!

Property in excellent condition. You are in the country on the New River. Listen to the river flow with your morning coffee, fantastic!! Close to West Jefferson shops and great dining. We will be back!

Wonderful Vacation

Our vacation at this home on the river was great. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children, ages 5 & 7. The home was immaculate and very comfortable. The home was the best equipped of the many we have stayed at through the years, with great pantry items and good books and lots of games, puzzles, etc.. We went tubing on the river and saw a bald eagle fishing two days in a row on the river. The kids loved wading in the river. We visited Jefferson, West Jefferson and Creston and spent a day in Damascus. We went on the Virginia Creeper Trail (one in our party went 5 times!). The temperatures in Crumpler was always pleasant, at least 10 to 15 degrees cooler than where we live. Most nights we grilled our dinner.. One evening we visited the nearby Shatley Springs Inn for dinner and that was fun. We highly recommend this home for a wonderful and fun vacation.

Hard to find features at the river

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay. The House is great with a wonderful location right on the north fork of the new river. The rock steps and level yard to the river are a definite plus. The River is shallow enough you can walk in and enjoy it at the entrance of the river at the house. The older kids loved the hammock, the adults loved the covered comfortable porch table overlooking the river. The king and queen beds were comfortable and all the bedrooms are on the main level, a definite plus and hard to find at the river. There were minimal steps going into the house, another definite plus for anyone that needs main level living space. The furniture throughout is custom made. It is beautiful but it does lack indoor comfort, especially the couch. There is an apple TV so if your a Samsung user it doesn't work well. The driveway is very steep and the parking area is very small to turn around a large truck, but doable. It is close to other houses who are full time residents. It is located right at Crumpler post office. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home, we greatly appreciate it.

Sites, Sounds, Feels, Joy at Temenos

Our stay was full of area activities and a return home to a beautiful home, gorgeous scenery, silence except for the amazing hummingbirds, a babbling river to hear and see, trees full of foliage (our time of year with the leaves turning was stunning), and a good book! We are very active and there are so many options in the area! We rode the Virginia Creeper bike trail which is fun for cyclists and anyone who can stay upright on a bike. One rides downhill where a train used to go uphill, along a beautiful mountain stream! Renting kayaks and a shuttle is a fantastic experience. The temps in October were in the 50s and 60s and we still LOVED getting out on the river to navigate around eddies, paddle a bit, and float a lot!! Hiking is dreamlike in the mountains! Grayson Highlands and Mount Jefferson are just two of the many where one can see the waterfalls, the sun beams filtering through the trees, and feel the exhilaration of being in the outdoors! In nearby Mt. Jefferson, we enrolled in an art class at the Florence Thomas Art School to join in the barn quilt art craze that we saw on so many area barns and homes. They are beautiful and fun to learn to do, plus the gallery has wonderful works by local artists! We visit Blowing Rock and never miss a chance to have Kilwin's Ice Cream. Within ten minutes is the River House where we sit on the veranda with a glass of wine to relax before an incredible dinner. Of course, breakfast at Shatley Springs is an experience to be had! Our timing missed getting to see the maple syrup being collected on nearby farms, but we did get to see the hillsides full of growing Christmas trees! A few years back we were here in April to enjoy Merle Fest, so check it out. The home is immaculate with pristine wooden floors, solid wooden doors, spotlessly clean, soft calming colors, wonderful artwork, kitchen stocked with everything we needed and more, comfortable mattresses, beautiful pottery plates that match the area so filled with artists, spacious rooms with beautiful views that still give one that cozy feel, a dynamic stone fireplace, and the feel that someone truly loves this place to have it so perfect within its environment. You would think Frank Lloyd Wright designed it. He didn't. Five stars, FOR SURE! Take care of this place. We will return.

Quality home, pictures don't do it justice

This a beautiful home with quality furniture and fittings. Most of the furniture through out is solid wood. The couch in front of the fire is comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is decked out with everything you can think of. There are even a few kids plates and cups. I would definitely head to the house to see what's there before buying spices/salt/oil etc. This is one of the very few places I've stayed where it's better quality, more spacious and more comfortable than what I expected from the photos.

Relax recharge on the river

From my 92 year old dad to my 4 year old grandson we all greatly enjoyed the house and the large yard. Plenty of games/toys/puzzles/pingpong for all to enjoy. River provides the perfect backdrop of nature's music as nd th red opportunity of canoes and kayaks . Some of neighbors did get a little excited when our dog barked

Absolutely perfect!

This property is even better than it looks in the listing. We came with my husband, 2 year old son, my parents, and their dog. There was plenty of space for us and all the amenities we needed. There were plenty of toys and books for my little one, as well as a swing and of course the river to play by. We had an amazing time!

Awesome property but too many restrictions

The home was clean and very spacious. The view is magnificent. The basement is not ideal for sleeping, more of a playroom type of space. If you want to do any mountain related activities like build an outdoor fire or throw some fireworks for New Years Eve , you will get a visit from the police., as well as the manager will be constantly sending harassing messages… Spoiled the entire evening with the family….

We stayed here with our friends, and all of us were amazed at how great this house was! So clean and beautiful! It was also the perfect set up for our 2 families to be comfortable and have enough space. I’m just 10 minutes of being at the property, we knew we’d definitely be back again!

River visit

Nice place, loved the location on the river. Beds were very comfortable. Roomy house. Very quiet neighborhood. The floors needed cleaning, and the sofa had dandruff and hair on it. The grill needed cleaning, and the front porch had a loose plank. The kitchen stove had to be lit using matches.which i didn't like, but overall liked the place and would return.

Great place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely house on the river. Our girls, age 5 and 7 loved the property and all of the toys that were provided for both outside and inside entertainment. The kitchen was equipped with everything needed for many meals. Even though we were told to bring all paper products and hand soap- everything was supplied! There was plenty of room and we were happy to be able to bring our dog on vacation. The deck had beautiful views of the river and the location was perfect- short drive to many wonderful parks and hikes. We would definitely recommend this place!

Great Location, great place

The cabin is perfect for 2 families: it has 2 bedrooms on each side of the house, so you stay together, but you have privacy as well. The cabin is nicer than the pictures show. We enjoyed the stay and the view of the river. We got some snow and were able to sled around the cabin. The kitchen is well stocked. Booking was easy and management company was easy to reach for questions.

Beautiful

Beautiful view of the river. Loved listening to the flow of the river. Home was the perfect size and layout. Great sized yard for us to have snowball fights and build snowmen. Could see where this would be a great yard to play in during the summer. A little tricky getting out of driveway in snow with our non 4 wheel drive. 4 wheel drive vehicle had no problem. After snow melted no problem getting in and out. Would definitely recommend!

Secluded Heaven

Outstanding river home and location

This is such a well thought out home and property. We stayed here with another couple in October 2020 and were incredibly pleased by how well (and beautifully) stocked the house is as well as the location and access to the river. We would absolutely return!
