Rosemary Lodge is the perfect base to explore all that the local area has to offer. Close by Willington, Melbourne, Tutbury and Repton are lovely villages, the latter being the capital of the ancient kingdom of Mercia. If you like to explore on foot, there are interesting walks including the Trent and Mersey Canal with its towpath and locks. We provide for your use OS Explorer maps and maps of circular walks in the local area including the National Forest. It’s a great base to explore the Peak District too, the market towns of Bakewell, Belper and Ashbourne, the world-famous Potteries including Denby Pottery Village and the many nearby National Trust properties. For wildlife lovers, the Willlington Wetlands nature reserve is just the other side of the village and is home to newly introduced beavers (and their kits, born in 2021) as well as many species of bird.
