Dated but Delightful

We almost cancelled this reservation several times because of all the negative reviews, and I'm glad we didn't. No, this is not a luxury property. And yes, it needs updating (the cabinet doors don't stay closed, the linens aren't great, the carpet in the primary is frankly gross, most of the living room furniture needs to be replaced, etc. etc)... BUT we knew this going in, and what the condo lacks in finishing touches, it makes up for in location, beach access and its balcony overlooking the beach. Having access to a private beach with umbrellas and chairs already set up each day was absolutely key to an enjoyable beach experience. This unit is right next to one of Destin's public access beaches, and watching that area get overcrowded each day was proof that we'd made the right choice. (FYI: If you're not familiar with Florida's new private/public beach access laws, please note that having private oceanfront property is EVERYTHING, particularly if you're traveling with kids!) Our kids are young, so they didn't have any complaints, though teenagers would probably notice all the issues. Long story, short: if you're looking for a luxurious condo, this is not your place. If you're fine with "roughing it" in exchange for beach views and access to a private beach with chairs/umbrellas, I'm not sure that you can find a lower cost property that sleeps up to 6 people. You simply need to get in the right frame of mind: you're paying for access and convenience, not the unit itself.

Gorgeous beach

The area and beach were wonderful!!! The home is nice but definitely could use some tender loving care especially regarding the cleanliness of the floors. Also, all the mattresses/beds were quite uncomfortable (clearly old) and could feel springs in each one we slept in. The pool is behind the building facing the parking lot instead of the beach which isn’t ideal but was still refreshing.

Everything was great. This is our 5th time staying at Crystal Villas. We had ussues w8th the tv in the living room connecting. The one in the bedroom worked fine.

Crystal Villas unit 6

I enjoyed my stay overall. But I was a bit disappointed with the unit. There was peeling wallpaper in many places, ceiling texture peeling, the metal furniture was rusty, the lamp shade was torn, and the carpet was filthy.

The place was great. Good location right on beach.

Villa was dated needs updating and some TLC. Wallpaper pealing off he Bathroom wall. Mattress needs to be replaced. Staff was very responsive and took care of problems quickly. Place was really nice except for the afore mentioned things.

View was great, condo was in poor condition

The view was perfect and access to the beach was great. The condo was in very poor condition. The bed was falling apart, carpet was crunchy and stained, wall paper was falling off the walls. The condo was very dated and poorly maintained.

Overall good - but issues

Had an issue with our door lock when checking into our room(several guests were having door lock issues at the same time) There was no one onsight to assist so we waited for 30 min until a very helpful young man arrived and got us in. Things like this will happen so we forgot about it.. We did not realize smoking was allowed on the property. Neighbors below us and beside us continuously smoked on their balconies pretty much making our balcony useless - unless we wanted the odor filling up our unit or wanting to smell the nice salt air mixed with cigarette smoke. Great location and beach services.

Two night stay with my littles

Short walk to the beach which was nice with our little ones, easy parking, pretty much soundproof other than you can hear footsteps upstairs(that's everywhere), pool is secluded which we loved, couch isn't the most comfortable but it is doable, King bed was extremely squeaky even when my littles would sit on it.. and if you're pregnant you'll wanna rent a hotel just because of how uncomfortable it is. Pregnant or have a little that can't walk? I recommend getting a room on the bottom. There was mold in the bathroom where the shower/bath is, but overall the stay was pretty great. 7 mins from Walmart!

Great view!

This unit is in definite need of an upgrade but the view is 5 star and just steps to the beach. The unit is good size too. The internet network info provided wasn't a searchable network so definitely check with the prop managers about that. It you want a great view and super close access to the beach, it's great. If you're looking for an updated unit and condo building, I would search for something else. My 4 star rating is for the view and location.

Beach front

Location could not be beat, down stairs, through the gate and you were on the beach. Beach service a nic plus. Down sides, huge tear in the back of the recliner, sofa needs replaced as you sink to the middle. Mildew in the tub grout, wallpaper peeling in bathrooms. Luckily we had great weather so we spent little time indoors.

Location is priceless!

Great location and perfect set up! Could use more variety of pots and pans for the meals made in the kitchen and more blankets but nothing that would stop us from staying here again. Was great to have a washer and dryer in the unit and main bed was comfy.

The unit needs some attention, only 2 eyes on the stove work, when you take a shower the tub doesn't drain, it takes a few minutes after you get out of the shower for the water to drain out. The bed was comfortable though. A little time and money and the unit would be fine.

Bright and Cheerful!

This was our third stay at Crystal Villas, and the best condo yet! We loved having an end unit with the morning sun coming in the bedroom and the living room over the sofa. The soft peach and beige tones lend a feeling a harmony in the living spaces. The curtains were easy to slide closed for complete privacy at night. There is a lot of activity outside the windows on the sofa side in the mornings as beach lovers and lifeguards enter the area, but we didn't mind - most start heading out at 3 p.m. We walked every morning to Starbucks on Matthews across Hwy 98, and sometimes to Publix. It's half a mile one way, so it's a good walk to start your day. We look forward to returning to Crystal Villas.

Great condo development with beautiful beach and close to everything

Our party of 5 (4 adults and one child) stayed in this condo over the Memorial Day week. Clean and immaculate unit with a great beachfront view. The location of the condo is very convenient to Wal-Mart and Publix. Only about a 10 minute drive to our favorite restaurants. The condos have a family friendly atmosphere. The access to the beach was a very short walk. The beach is not very crowded since it is apparently a private beach for condo residents and guests. The water was that beautiful emerald green and blue. The reason I did not give this specific condo 5 stars (I would give it 4.5 stars, though) was because a few of the furnishings could use updating. The recliner showed some wear and the rugs were faded. The cookware selection was also slim. Not a lot of pots and pans. If you are not planning on doing a lot of cooking, this should not be an issue, though. Plenty of plates, glasses, coffee cups, silverware and cooking utensils. Providing a welcome package that included a small bottle of dishwashing soap, sponge, dishwasher and laundry detergent was a nice touch. Overall, we were happy with the condo and enjoyed our time there.
