Heriot Bay Inn

"Very quaint little place with tons of history! Rooms are very small but all you really need when you are there to explore the island anyway. Only real issue we had was a lack of sound proofing between the rooms- and could be very hot if it was sunny as there is no AC and the window isn't screened. Fish and chips at the pub was great!"

Painter's Lodge

"We stayed at Painters Lodge for one night and unfortunately would not recommend it or return ourselves. Our check-in was delayed because our room was not ready. When we finally entered the room, the air conditioning was set to 15°C despite it being cool and rainy outside. The room felt very damp, and we were never able to get the chill out of it. While the rooms have been renovated, the updates appeared cheap and lacked attention to detail. There were wet, crinkled paper doilies on the bathroom vanity, no hair dryer was provided, and there were no nightstands beside the bed, which was inconvenient. The kitchenette was extremely small and awkwardly located right by the front door. The deck was in need of significant repair, and although we had requested a pet-friendly room, the carpet contained numerous stains, which left a poor impression. Considering the price we paid, we expected much better. There are several far superior hotels in Campbell River that offer better value, comfort, and overall quality for the same price or less. On a positive note, the front desk staff were very pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. We also stopped into the restaurant for a drink, and our waitress provided excellent service. The pool area looked very nice, although we did not have the opportunity to use it. Overall, this property did not meet our expectations, and despite the friendly staff, we would not stay here again."

"I was excited to stay for 4 nights here as it is advertised as having a gym and steam room (the plan was to wake up and use the gym and steam room in the morning before our days out)and our room was advertised as having a kitchen in the pictures and listed room amenities. When I found that our room had no kitchen we were upgraded for 2 nights to the beach house which if you can afford is absolutely amazing.(Most of the pictures are of the beach house.) However there is no gym available for hotel users and the steam room starts at 10am. If you like a descent coffee in the morning you'll be hugely disappointed if you are going to be relying on the coffee in the lobby. You've got more chance of waking up if you fart in a cup and add hot water. You will need your own transport to get out to eat as they only have a toaster and microwave available to cook with. I would definitely come back to stay at the beach house and highly recommend it as it is right on the beach with gorgeous views and everything you would want to accommodate your stay."
