"I had a brilliant stay at Katie’s Cottage. The owner was very kind to me before and during my stay and communicated with me very kindly. The cottage is in a great location, quiet and peaceful. The cottage is immaculately clean and very spacious. The bed was comfortable, heating instant and shower powerful. I really enjoyed having two smart TVs upstairs and downstairs to relax with during my time inside the cottage. Stunning views and walks from the doorstep too. I enjoyed the personal touch of a...

"Great location and excellent standard of room. Not very noise-proof from the bar across the road - it was loud until late and the early morning deliveries disturbed our sleep. The bathroom door didn't shut. Overall pleasant stay."

"Check in was smooth. Location great for city centre, but you can hear a lot of noise from car park, entrance, hallways and other room doors opening and closing!"

"Room was a good size ,but tv was placed at the side of the bed ¬ on a arm so you couldn't move to a better position so really bad neck ache.nice size shower but no pressure. The breakfast was a buffet we were expecting a breakfast menu, felt a bit like a free breakfast in a well known chain!very disappointing.had a meal in the pickled sprout which was excellent, would definitely recommend going there for a meal."
"The ground floor of the property is beautiful and very well kept with all the style of the period it was built in. The bed rooms were small but had everything you need but the floor boards are a different matter you could here every step the person in the room above took."
"Reception staff welcoming and friendly and check-in was very quick and efficient. Our Standard Double room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Excellent breakfast, as always, with quality ingredients and a variety of hot and cold options. We also had a great evening meal at the Fat Badger - the burgers were very good! Highly recommended - we always stay at the White Hart if we are spending the evening in Harrogate."
"Hotel is OK. A bit tired in parts though. I paid for a room with a canal view which I could see - if I looked beyond the large number of big bins full of dirty sheets and some car parking spaces. I also asked for a quiet room when I made my booking, again when I completed their online check in and also when I arrived at the hotel. I was given room 308 which has a door to another room. Through this door I could hear everything that was happening next door including the gentleman snoring and coughing, it was like he was in my room! I would not book here again. The corridors are a bit tired and incredibly hot. Car park is large and free for guests. View in the distance beyond the canal is attractive. Staff were all friendly. Didn't think it was value for money though because of the noise from the next door room which resulted in a very poor night's sleep."
"The staff are very attentive and helpful. We stayed in a standard room which was a good size and the bed was the same. It wasn't spotless but clean enough. The breakfast had a good choice of cereal and a hot buffet. We had dinner also, the food was very filling and tasty."
"We enjoyed our stay and it was excellent value for money. The hotel garden is very nice, but rather than being able to admire the lovely garden down the corridor to the leisure facilities, there is a thick net curtain?
The tea and coffee in the room is nice, and freely available in reception
There is a small fee for using the pool, and it is very well maintained and the spa area and changing rooms were spotless both times we used them.
There's plenty of parking at only a small fee per night."
"Lift was out of order, we had a late checkin and did it as a noise bar, could hear the bar staff very well. Lift wasn’t working, had to climb 3 flights of stairs with our suitcases. Room was nice and clean. Beds lovely and comfy. Evening meal ok. Breakfast not so good, over cooked rubbery eggs, bacon very hard and dried out, overcooked, filer coffee included, other coffees at extra cost. Stayed two nights, but had breakfast out the second morning. Corridor lighting not working, including fire exit lights. Very dark at night, cleaner had to leave the storeroom door open so there was some light in the corridor. Beautiful decor in the pub and eating area, just attention required on the food and essentials like lift and lighting"
DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa
8/10 Good
"Had a great overnight stay. The smallest rooms ("Cozy Double") are still a good size, and with spa access from 7am - 9pm, great value. Friendly staff, clean room with lots of sun and a big bathroom with large walk-in shower, wonderful spa facilties, and very close to the town centre.
Just a few snagging points to mention.
* Car parking. I'm sure this has rocketed since we last visited in December. It costs £18 per day to park in the hotel car park - as a hotel guest! Sure, it might be more expensive in the town centre, but I am not a shopper - I am staying at the hotel. If you are coming by car, you'll need to factor in this significant and disproportionate cost.
* Half of the channels on the TV didn't work.
* Check-out time is 11am, and the key card will stop working at 11:01am. It costs £30/hour you stay over this. Fair enough perhaps, but bear it in mind if you lose track of time in the spa :)
Great hotel. But don't forget to add £18/day to your costs!"
