"We stayed at Blue JackTar Hotel, and surprisingly, it was better than the other two resorts we visited during our trip. The hotel has a great bar and restaurant on-site, and the beachfront location is a huge plus. Being right on the beach made the experience much more enjoyable and relaxing. One unique touch we really liked was the pond with turtles—it was a nice detail and something different to see. Most importantly, the staff was very helpful and attentive, which made a big difference in our overall stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely consider staying here again."

"I booked a stay at Casa Marina Sosua expecting a relaxing vacation, but it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, there were serious issues. When we entered the room, there were what appeared to be blood stains in the bathroom and near the hallway entrance. On top of that, the shower was in poor condition—the shower head was loose and fell while I was using it. The food situation was equally bad. We tried both the reservation-based restaurants and the buffet, and the quality was extremely poor. The meat, in particular, tasted heavily processed—similar to canned hot dogs—and overall, the food felt unappetizing and poorly prepared. Even the drinks were disappointing—they tasted like watered-down concentrated juice, with excessive dilution that made them flavorless. Customer service was also lacking. Most staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, which made the experience even more frustrating. The only positive interactions we had were with the receptionist and a supervisor who genuinely tried to assist us. The one highlight of the property is the view—it’s absolutely beautiful, and we truly wanted to enjoy our stay. However, the overall conditions and service made that impossible. Fortunately, we contacted Expedia, and they were able to relocate us to another resort. Overall, I would not recommend staying here based on our experience."

"The resort is nice and well laid out. The room was absolutely beautiful and the beach was great. The reservation-only restaurants were decent, but the buffet was inedible. There is a bar on the resort called "Opus", which is only available for "Elite" members, so don't go in there. The service at the hotel was a little sub-par. The bar ran out of things constantly (including tequila) and we were only able to rent enough towels on 1 of the 4 days we were there. The resort also has a weird way of communicating requests, through their app, which doesn't make clear which services are available to you before you request it (i.e., you can order breakfast room service on the app, then 24 hours later they will tell you that the service isn't available). The resort also wasn't the best for a young couple looking to party (both in our late 20s) - definitely more of a vibe for seniors and families. We also recommend taking some time to visit Puerto Plata off-resort. The Uber there was cheap and it's a 15-min drive. Overall, although we did have a decent time, we probably wouldn't come back here."

"I do not recommend this hotel for elderly people or people with walking problems. The hotel has difficult access to the amenities. Going to the restaurant is an adventure, but the food is terrible. I got sick from it, spent the first day, and haven't eaten there again. My wife and I went to eat at a restaurant outside because I was scared to eat again. I am Dominican, and for me, it is hard to give a bad report for a hotel from my home country, but maybe, by reading this review, the administration will take more control and improve the quality of the services. One positive is that the room was clean, and the waitresses were very kind. The beach is amazing, and the pool was clean. The entertainment is not that good. Don't think about snacks,, it's confusing. "
