Gilmore House

We are located off of historic Gilmore Trail appx. 10 miles north of Fairbanks. Our cute 3b.r.- 1 bath home can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is perfect for anyone who is interested in exploring the Last Frontier at your own pace. We have a large deck located on the 2nd floor and a large front porch, both overlooking the historic Gold filled hills north of town. Great for watching the Northern Lights or enjoying the Midnight Sun! The kitchen has pots & pans, dishes, silverware, baking pans, cake pans etc. and we always provide, with our compliments, a food *'Starter Kit' with things like Bacon & Eggs & OJ plus a variety of condiments, salad dressings, spices, and more, plus some snacks & bottled water. In the freezer there are always a couple of pizzas! *(Gluten /Dairy free options available upon request with advanced notice). So much easier than trying to find a Grocery store before you've even had a chance to get settled in! With a little notice, we can pick you up or drop you off at the Airport or Train Depot. We are Pet friendly & have water & food bowls & a blanket for your fur babies. We live next door, so no matter what time of year you come to Alaska, we are always available should you need anything & we will do our absolute best to make sure you and your family & friends have a great visit! No matter where you choose to stay, whether with us or elsewhere, we hope you have a wonderful time in Alaska!

We decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary in AK to see the Northern Lights. This was our second but longest stay. What a wonderful location! Great hostess! After asking about GF restaurants, she provided some GF items for our “starter kit”. It was wonderful and much appreciated. She asked if we wanted to be informed of when the Northern lights were out (which was our very last night there) and alerted us. The view from the upstairs deck was amazing and super convenient. So peaceful and quiet. We even saw a mother moose and her 2 calves eating leaves and grass in the front and side of the house!

Experience couldn't be beat. Host were exceptional. Went above and beyond what we expected. House had so many unique artifacts and antiques. Landscaping was beautiful with all the flowers. Special dietary needs were met. Loved the starter food package they provided. Rooms were super nice. They also provided information about things to do and see in the Fairbanks area. Definitely recommend Gilmore House for the ultimate Alaskan stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at Gilmore house. The house offered all the comforts of home along with Alaskan artifacts that made you feel the history of the land. There is a quiet beauty and calmness that envelops you. It is a rare treasure in today's rush, rush world. Laura went above and beyond in ensuring our stay was everything we wanted it to be. The fridge was full of breakfast foods, pizza in the freezer, snacks on the counter- we have never felt more welcome at a VRBO. Laura even provided us suggestions of things we could do locally. You feel truly cared for at the Gilmore House. Highly recommend!!! 5 star plus

Super cute place to stay

Great communication with the host. Laura offered recommendations for activities and restaurants prior to our visit. The home is super cute and was comfortable for 4 adults. I enjoyed all of the old pictures and antiques. Location was very convenient for all of our activities. I would definitely recommend and would stay again. I appreciated the thoughtfulness of snacks and breakfast items that were available to us as our flight arrived in the middle of the night.

Amazing experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Laura and Martin are amazing. Laura communicated frequently to ensure we had everything we need and they went out of their way help us out for activities we were planning after our stay. The provisions for breakfast were great. The view of the aurora from the porch was amazing. We can't recommend this home enough.

Great Getaway!

Great home away from home, near enough to town but with all the feel of a cozy cabin away. The hosts are amazing, good communication and helpful with every part of the stay. We definitely appreciated all the notes, recommendations, and the "starter kit" groceries. We would definitely stay again!!

Fabulous Fairbanks at the Gilmore House!

Laura and Martin were amazing hosts! They even picked us up at the train station and got us to our rental car - saved us a bunch of $. Gilmore house is a warm and welcoming home full of historical artifacts. This is definitely a place to visit and stay again. A wonderful location to see the Northern Lights. I can't recommend them highly enough - book it!

Cosy cabin in a beautiful area

We had a great time staying in the Gilmore house, we stayed with our family and really enjoyed our time. The house is really cosy and warm, clean and quiet, you feel you are in the woods. Laura and Martin were fantastic hosts, they left all the amenities for us to enjoy and relax. They even let us know every time the Aurora's were out. Thank you Laura and Martin!!

This is a super clean, quiet, and easy place to stay. The hosts are immediately responsive. The extra touches like coffee and breakfast supplies make this a first choice for my next visit to FAI.

Incredible and cozy retreat

A few of us got together for New Years Eve and the Gilmore house was absolutely perfect. Great location, secluded but not too far from Fairbanks. The hosts were incredible, very friendly and quick to be of any help they could. They even invited us for a small bonfire they had, which was super fun. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Outstanding Experience!!!

I can’t speak highly enough about this experience! Laura was so helpful. She truly wants her guests to have an outstanding experience. The house is full of treasures. It’s perfectly located just outside Fairbanks. It’s quiet, but convenient to everything. We even saw the Northern Lights right from the house. Stay here if you’re in the area.

Winter wonderland vacation

The Gilmore house is one of the best places we've ever stayed while traveling and there are lots of reasons why: - The view is epic and solitary - The house is warm, comfy, charming, and full of fascinating historic Alaskan details. - The house is stocked with amenities and gear that helped us make the most out of our adventures. - The sledding hills on the property were incredibly fun - The hosts are especially kind and thoughtful! Overall 10/10 truly, we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our time in Fairbanks and see the aurora!

Wonderful host

Laura was extremely helpful with local knowledge and was very responsive to questions, as well as pro-active with relaying useful information about our booking. The house was very clean, and well prepared for guests. The beds were comfortable, and all of the services working properly. I would be very happy to stay at Gilmore house again when I visit Faribanks.

Great place to decompress

The Gilmore House is so quaint and cute with all of the authentic furnishings with notes sharing a little bit about each one. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. A wondeful place to decompress and relax. Laura stopped over to make sure everything was okay and was nice enough to share some farm fresh eggs with us which made some very delicious breakfast. Definitely would stay again the next time we're in Valdez.

Charming spot!

We enjoyed our stay at Gilmore House. Laura was super helpful, providing resources before we arrived and checking in via text through our stay. Laura and Martin live next door so are available if needed and very friendly. The house has loads of charm and thoughtful touches. For example, we stayed during a few warm days with lots of sun coming through the lovely windows - thankfully fans were available to keep things cool in each bedroom.

Exceptional!

This is a most delightful cottage in a great settings - just 15-20 minutes drive from major stores of Fairbanks, yet very quite and secluded. Beautifully decorated with a lot of fascinating historical pieces that we loved to explore learning about Alaska. The hosts were most gracious and helpful - the best and most caring hosts that we have ever met in our many years of renting vacation houses! Highly recommend!

Best host ever

We loved our stay at the Gilmore House. The views were incredible, with just the right amount of rustic charm. We were all so comfortable and happy there. The best part of the stay was our incredible hosts who made sure we had everything we needed from snacks and meal starters on arrival to links to activities and tips for seeing the aurora. They went above and beyond in every way and we can’t thank them enough. Hopefully we’ll return soon and stay at Gilmore House again!
