“On first arriving to this hotel all seemed well, staff member was polite, explained all we needed to know and helped us to our room, once in the room we noticed that it needed to be maintained better as there was cracked tiles in the bathroom, frayed carpet areas, paint chips and marks on the doors. The furniture such as the dressing table is bubbled up and the tv remote was dirty also. The bed was very hard and left me with a very painful back, the pillows were flat and so had to fold them to……

“Really lovely stay - friendly staff in a small pub in Combe Down open for evening meals during the week, and open for lunch onwards at the weekend.
We had a lovely welcome, preordered breakfast for the next morning which was really delicious, and was shown to our room upstairs. A lovely view of the white horse in the distance and a comfy bed, with lovely furnishings. We would stay again.”Amelia

“Devonshire House was clean and well maintained. The bedroom was roomy and clean as was the ensuite. Plenty of tea and coffee and extra left in the communal lounge if required.
Could have done with extra towels, only a bath sheet per person and one hand towel, could have done with one smaller towel per person for after washing your hair..minor criticism and we did manage by sharing the hand towel..
Chris was very friendly and helpful. We took his advice and went on the FREE walking tour around……Debra

“The hotel is an old building so we understand the facilities have been improved to update with the modern life. There is a lift but there are about 10 -11 steps up and down before I could move my luggage into the room. There are 4 steps of staircase before I could use the bathroom.
I had an accident on my first night stay 21 May 2026 2:40 a.m., I sprained my right ankle. I could not manage to go to the hospital with only one leg. I was so grateful the staff on duty on 21 May, came and helped……Wai Mei Grace

“We would not have booked here if we had known the Saturday breakfast was 9am to 10am.
There is no information about breakfast times on the booking process.
The TV was totally unusable as I do not have a modern PhD. I simply could not understand all this internet stuff.
The Wifi speed was slow, less than 1mbps.
Besides that, clean comfortable room, excellent real beer in the bar.”Derek
