No matter where you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will help get your Chardonnay escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, put in your passport, travel docs, cash and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a laptop crammed with your favourite shows are always good options. If you plan to take a quick snooze, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your priority when choosing what to wear on your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a wise choice, as are flat, slip-on shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
