Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Florence could be a breeze or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some tips that will help you start your next great escape on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, put in your passport, official ID, cash and vital medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a phone crammed with your favourite movies are some wonderful options. If you hope to catch more than just forty winks, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some facial wipes to ensure you arrive at your destination feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and fuels, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and go for shoes that are flat, roomy and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
