Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will get your Martel escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a great travel experience is to be prepared. So, let's start with the essentials: passport, travel documents, cash and daily medications. Next, bring items that'll help keep you busy, like your laptop or a magazine. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. Finally, don't forget to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are flat, enclosed and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
