If you're not prepared, air travel can be challenging. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips for a worry-free start to your vacation in Paamiut. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a spare pair of socks and a good novel. Next, find a spot in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your important medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to be as comfortable as possible. Layer yourself up in natural-fiber clothing and pack a cardigan in case you get cold. Opt for a pair of roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your checked baggage.
- A condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this happening. Wearing a high-quality pair of compression socks or tights may also help.
