“Great place to stay. Staff was helpful. Wish there was dining available in the dining hall area or drinks at the bar.”

“This was a very nice and relax environment. I felt safe and at peace.”

“Second time to choose this place”

“This hotel was awful. First of all, there's no lighting at the entry road to the hotel and you can't see it until you're passed it so we missed the road trying to get in and had to turn around and we still couldnt see it and almost missed it again. If we didnt have a gps, we never would have found it. There was barely any parking. The front desk staff looked about 12 to 15 and was extremely unhelpful. The front desk wouldn't give us any towels or paper towels even though I explained my water……

“The first disappointment was how close by the road was.It makes sense for an old hotel, but I found the constant noise and traffic unpleasant and certainly for sitting on the verandah. Also no breakfast is served which is mentioned on website though it definitely was not happening. And lastly I found it tacky to demand a dollar each for drinks in the beverage area.If it costs that much they could incorporate it in the room charge. It just seems unwelcoming”

“The hotel has a nice restaurant, bar area and outside firepit area. Everything seemed clean and neat. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that I booked a room with two double beds via Expedia and received a confirmation back that the room had two double beds. When I called the hotel, however, they said there were no rooms with two double beds and instead the room had one double bed and pull-out couch with could serve as another bed if needed. I said that is not what I booked……

“It was a real treat to stay at the Balsam Inn! The Inn is off the beaten path like I wanted and very very quite. Jenny is a warm welcoming host. She even upgraded my room just because it was available. The room itself was beautiful! It felt like I was a guest in someones Adirondack mountain home. Antique furniture, pines cones, snowshoes, layered bedding...like in an LLBean catalog. The bed was super comfy. I had a large screen TV and mini fridge in the room. Although there is a……

“Spectacular interior spaces and super friendly owner. The interior is filled with incredible woodwork, especially grand staircase. Our suite was large and comfortable. Books everywhere to read. Great amount of satisfying choices for breakfast. We were pleasantly stuffed afterwards. Close to several restaurants. We were biking the Erie Canal Trail from Syracuse to Amsterdam NY and it was very convenient, close to trail and owner insisted on having our bikes inside. Loved it!!!”

“All questions in review 5 Star. Host made sure all needs were taken care of. Super easy check in and check out. Even provided EV charging cable from the Motor Home area. Very relaxing.”

“Enjoyed our stay at you house on Sacandaga lake. It was roomy with lots of extra amenities. The ac was a plus during our stay as the weather was steamy! ”

“It was a nice place. Super comfortable beds and the bunk bed for the kids is a nice addition. ”

“What an amazing property!!! Every detail was thought of when remodeling this caboose. It is absolutely stunning. And, it’s as comfortable as it is beautiful. Everywhere you look, you see another tiny piece that is spot-on withe the caboose’s decor. You have to see this beauty!!!”

“2nd time staying here. Will be back!!”

“A unique redo of a one room school house. Top amenities and facilities. As two retired teachers, and married for 52 years, we really enjoyed the experience.”

“If we could rate Bonnie and Steve higher than 5 stars we would. They were great communicaters before our trip and were nothing but warm and welcoming from the moment we got there. The house was great but what really makes the property is the location and outdoor space. The grounds were amazing and were great for relaxing, enjoying the outdoors, or spending time with friends and family. If you're looking for a remote stay that's not too far from a grocery store, gas stations, ice cream shops,……
