The Perfect Beach Vacation

The beach home is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to get a balance of beach + a resort experience. Walking distance to both the beach and the Club's private pool and restaurant/bar. There are 2 pools available: 1 infinity pool overlooking Galveston and the other large pool has a lazy river which the kids had a blast in. The private club also provides cabanas by the pool on demand and if you call a day in advance, they will setup a beach tent with 4 chairs for your family to relax on the beach with some much-needed shade. A perfect vacation for my large family, we will definitely be reserving this home again next time we vacation in Galveston.

Unsafe and Misrepresented – Would Not Recommend

I am sharing this review to help others make an informed decision before booking. Our family, including relatives from both in and out of state, gathered at this home to celebrate a special milestone. Unfortunately, what we experienced was the opposite of what was advertised. The attic-level bunk room had a moldy odor, and visible mold was found above the door, which felt damp to the touch. Guests began experiencing respiratory issues and had to be relocated to sleep on the couch and recliners located downstairs. The downstairs half-bathroom also showed visible signs of mold near the ceiling vent. Multiple steps on the staircase were loose or raised, and a family member fell, which was deeply distressing. The bedding in the downstairs bedroom was in poor condition. The comforter had a dry bloodstain, and although the sheets had clearly been laundered, they still showed brown-tinted bloodstains. We rewashed them, but the stains remained. There were also visible water stains around ceiling vents. Ceiling fans in most bedrooms did not work, the garbage disposal was inoperable until a family member fixed it, and the provided coffee was an open, used container, which felt especially inappropriate in a post-COVID era. Support from the local host was very slow. While we would not recommend this property in its current condition, we are truly grateful for the assistance we received from both Vrbo and Vacasa, who worked together to help us relocate.

Several stair planks were already loose or separating, creating a safety hazard. After one family member slipped on a raised plank, a stair plank completely detached, making the fall both dangerous and distressing.

The downstairs bedroom had a bed frame without a box spring, which caused a wavy pattern in the mattress. The bed was extremely low to the ground, very uncomfortable, and unsuitable for sleeping.

Mold was visible above the door in the attic-level bedroom. The door and doorknob felt damp to the touch, confirming moisture in the area.

Mold growth clearly visible above the vent in the half-bathroom on the main level, indicating poor ventilation and lack of proper cleaning.

Not great for kids right now! New property.

Not a great place for young kids. No TVs throughout the house. We spent most of our time outside but we all know sometimes a movie night at the beach is warranted. The front door weighs a ton, swings open so fast and almost knocked out the kids and an adult. Glass coffee table that literally slides on its stand. A lot of stairs!!! Unsafe patio with a hole in the floor and a broken gait that a kid could've fallen down from the second story. No outside showers. I'm guessing they are still being built so we requested a water hose which they said we would get all weekend and we never did, no hairdryers which are specifically listed on the listing and when requested they were not brought. Fan was also requested and not brought. I realize at this point I sound very bougie and like I'm very needy, but I'm actually not. The whole stay started off not so great when we were last minute told it would be 25$ a person to use the community pool, bar, clubhouse and restaurant. This was not disclosed on the listing. In fact, they advertised the use of community amenities which just isn't the case. Needless to say, we had 13 people, and a fair share of kids, so we paid the fee. The pool and the beach were not within walking distance either. This is also something they advertised for this listing which just wasn't the case. There were quite a few roaches seen. It is the beach and a new development so that comes with the territory but was obviously noticed throughout our stay. Additionally, the code listed on the app I was forced to buy was incorrect so we had to wait on the porch until someone responded to our text with the correct code to get into the house. These wristbands that we paid for were said to be delivered to our house upon arrival which was also not the case. We had to drive to the clubhouse to get them and if we would have been thirty minutes later they would've been closed and we would've missed a whole evening of amenity access that we paid extra for. Just frustrating. Totally understand the need for extra fees and registration what not but upfront disclosure would have been nice so a family could weigh the pros and cons and plan their arrival appropriately. After a full day in the car our kids needed to swim off some energy upon our arrival. On a positive note, the house was nice and big. Great for a big family! Everything is very new and clean. The AC works wonderfully which has always been a problem at beach houses in Texas. And, the beds were actually very comfortable which is not something I typically expect in a rental.

1. Place needs some love - missing handles in some rooms, no outdoor furniture to enjoy the patio, no beach accessories, no enough kitchen utensils.2. It was difficult to figure out how to use community pool.3. Bunk room smelled wet the whole stay.
