"I recently stayed at this hotel and booked their most basic room, as I’ve done many times with Ibis hotels. Unfortunately, this time the experience fell short. The room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke (or something very similar), despite the hotel being non‑smoking. In the bathroom, there were several hairs left behind from a previous guest—on the walls, in the shower, and on the floor.
When I raised this with the receptionist and showed photos, she was extremely helpful and immediately upgraded me to another room. The upgraded room felt like it belonged to a completely different hotel: clean, fresh-smelling, and far better maintained. I was genuinely grateful for the quick support.
Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding the basic rooms and opting for an upgraded one—the difference in cleanliness and overall quality is significant.
On the positive side, all reception staff were friendly and approachable throughout my stay. The location is excellent: just a short walk to Bordeaux Cathedral, with two late‑opening supermarkets across the road and a tram stop offering a direct, easy link to the airport. I arrived before check‑in and the staff happily stored my bags so I could explore the city. The Wi‑Fi was reliable, and I skipped breakfast as there are plenty of great cafés nearby.
Overall, a good stay—but only if you choose an upgraded room."
