Out for a VA wedding
Delightful hillside abode, with gorgeous views and all the possibilities for fun and relaxation. Came looking for a place to gather our offspring and families together while we were in VA for a wedding. We were out with wedding festivities much of the time and wished we had more time to just relax and enjoy the premises. Grandson enjoyed looking for polywogs in the pond and roasting marshmallows in the outdoor fire pit. A little out of the way but we really enjoyed the outdoor space and tranquility!

Gorgeous Hideaway!
My family and I booked this place for our Thanksgiving dinner. It was very well stocked! The kitchen is beautiful, and there is plenty of space for everyone! The basement was well stocked for the kids and kept them occupied even on a rainy day. Beds were comfortable. Be warned about gathering in the living room at night, as the master bedroom is a loft and can hear everything happening in the living room. Overall a gorgeous place that has all the amenities one could ask for. We want to come back in the summer so we can use the pool!

Beautiful property!
This is a very comfortable family home with stunning views. The Host has put a lot of thought into outfitting the kitchen and lower level family room, and the decor is very nice while still kid friendly. There are hundreds of videos to chose from in the lower level family room, but no streaming or cable. That was a little difficult for my news junkie husband to accept, but he enjoyed watching movies with the grandkids! The back deck is a very comfortable and relaxing amenity. If the weather had cooperated, we would have eaten every meal out there. We are looking forward to returning next summer when the pool is open. Between the rain showers, we hiked the trail and explored the property. Communication with the host was excellent. We had an issue with the hot tub, which led to a very nice phone conversion with the owner. We are looking forward to staying here again!

Amazing View!
The house was very clean and well stocked. The indoor wood burning fireplace and fire pit outside were a hit. The hot tub was extremely nice and the view from it was beautiful. We would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay again.

Family getaway
Great peaceful weekend with the family. We really enjoyed our stay! My only issue was all the stink bugs that kept coming in the house … but I guess that is part of the mountain life!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! Yes, like you said, we live in the country, sometimes we get stink bugs depending on the season. However, to battle this, we have a quarterly service that treats inside and outside the house which proves to be very effective. Occasionally, there will be a few that do get into the house due to open doors. Thank you for your feedback!

Fantastic mountain getaway!
This cabin was everything and more! Some of the amenities we enjoyed the most were the outdoor shooting range, hot tub, watching movies complete with our very own popcorn machine, and ping pong/foosball. The owner was extremely responsive and the check-in/check-out process was so convenient! We definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for some time away to enjoy the great outdoors with friends and family!

Fabulous family vacation
Our extended family, ranging in age from 1 to 71, thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over the long Labor Day weekend. The kids couldn’t get enough of the pool! The DVD library gave us plenty of choices for movie night, there were craft supplies for the littles, and ping pong too! The kitchen was well supplied even for our big group. We definitely stretched the house to its limit but it was manageable. Consensus was “much better than the beach!” and “when can we go again?” so clearly this was a good choice.

An amazing retreat for all!
This was the most enjoyable property I've ever rented! We were looking for a quiet place with a pool, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms, space to explore the outdoors, and tucked away in the country. This checked all our boxes and more! While some guests swam, others watched a movie on the huge couch in the basement or went to the on-property shooting range. The property was very clean and well maintained. Honestly, even the carpet felt brand new and was clean, soft, and plushy! Communication with the property manager was excellent and we will hopefully be back in the future for more fun and relaxation.

Beautiful Property
My family and I wanted a quiet getaway vacation. A few days to relax and spend time together. This was the perfect place! The house nicely accommodated the 4 of us. We also had our dog, which was a nice allowance by the owners. The pool was very nice. The kitchen had everything we needed. The sunsets were spectacular!!!!

We stayed here for a weekend as a group of girls. The drive from the main road to the house is a little rugged, but the house and property are amazing! Pool was beautiful, house was well stocked with any utensils, or needs that we had. The host checked in while we were there and was very quick to communicate back with any questions we had!

This was such a hidden gem! The entire stay was just perfect. The view is amazing and the pool was fabulous. We all had such a great time. The deck was glorious. There was plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy the beautiful views! It is such a beautiful cottage to escape to! Its was very clean. It really felt like we were just visiting a home - not a rental. I have never seen a VRBO so well stocked on every day goods (condiments, baggies, kitchen stuff, all the stuff we usually bring). We can't wait to come back and visit!

A week of Fun and Relaxation
We stayed for a week and had a very good time. The drive to the house is up a steep gravel road. I could see how drivers not used to mountain roads would feel nervous, but compact sedans did just fine. The house had so many things to do; we were never bored. Most days we spent in the pool. We were excited about the diving board. The pool is heated to a comfortable temperature. The pool deck is made of an unusual concrete. In bare feet it felt similar to walking on gravel. Most of us kept our flip flops next to the pool stairs or ladder. There were plenty of cool mornings and evenings when someone would look wistfully at the closed-up hot tub and wish it were available. A few of us really enjoyed the outdoor shower. It's completely open on the one side facing the gorgeous mountain view, so we just made sure no one went out there then. It is very remote. There were no signs of anyone else nearby all week. The view is at least as good as the photos look. Just past the pool in the lawn they had set up 4 or 5 bug zappers that did pretty well at keeping mosquitos away. There's always a shady spot on the deck with comfortable furniture. Inside there was a lot to do, too. A "well-stocked kitchen" means there's food already there as well as utensils. Not a lot, but maybe a few things you forgot to get. Our teens loved the popcorn machine. There were bags of serving-sized popcorn there and various flavors. We used the card table and chairs downstairs to set up some board games and puzzles. The kids found an art center and drew and colored pictures. The TV is down in the basement. That is probably a good idea since any noise on the main level would disturb sleeping people in the upstairs loft area that has an open wall. The wi-fi was accessible all over the house, but the Internet speed is rather slow. Web browsing and email were fine, but streaming shows were hit or miss. I was surprised at how many additional activities or amenities were here. We would have been happy to stay another whole week!

Ideal Getaway
My friends and I had a fabulous weekend at this property! The views and the grounds are idyllic. Everything was as advertised, the house was very well-stocked and furnished wonderfully. We had a delightful time exploring the media collection while gathered around the fireplace in the conversation pit, grilling out on the porch, and stargazing from the hot tub. The house very comfortably accommodated 11 adults and could have fit more with couples sharing beds. Lanah was a gracious and thoughtful host. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Beautiful place! Wonderful stay!!
We had a fantastic stay at Eagles’s Nest. Plenty of room inside for our group to spread out. There was snow/ice on the ground when we were there, (and the temps were in single digits), so we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoors as much as we would have liked to, but it was still a great time. Hope to go back when it’s warmer! Lanah and her husband were terrific. They shoveled the snow, left a sweet welcome note and even got balloons for someone in the group who was celebrating a birthday. Truly above and beyond!

A Very Merry Christmas!
This is a beautiful spot, and the dramatic drive up is part of the fun. Great views, great property inside and out. We had people of all ages at the party, toddlers through seniors, and it was a good fit for everyone. (Toddler did need a close eye kept, because stairs, pool, fireplaces...) We didn't use the pool, obviously, but the fire pit and hot tub were terrific! The host was extremely responsive and welcoming. We were greeted with not only a decorated and lit Christmas tree, but also supplies for s'mores. This house produced for us a very Merry Christmas!

Great Weekend Getaway
House was perfect for a sizable group of adults. Everyone had adequate sleeping space between beds and pullouts, plus a great entertaining space in the basement and gathering space in the living room. It was a little chilly, but the wraparound deck provided great views and would also be an amazing place to hang out, grill, eat, and share drinks in slightly warmer weather. Drive up was bumpy, but all our cars (even a couple sedans) made it up without issue.

My wife and I, and our two dogs had a fantastic weekend in this beautiful location. Lanah the host was extremely responsive, friendly and generous. It's a million dollar view... especially during the fall when the leaves are changing.

TRULY RELAXED & BEAUTIFUL PLACE
It was a great experience of wonderful scenic view house. Heated pool was awesome. We were 16 in group but each and everyone enjoyed our time and wanted stay more. We love the fire pit and enjoy the late night fun along side of it.House also very updated and have all kind of facilities. Lanah also very nice and friendly , response very quick if needed. We highly recommend this place.

Perfect Secluded Weekend Getaway
Our group had a lovely time at the house! Lanah was super communicative and a superb host! The property had a fully stocked kitchen with a large fridge/freezer at your disposal. Breakfast was great with a Keurig coffee maker and plenty of K-cups. The property is very well maintained, clean and welcoming. The views are stunning with gorgeous sunsets and several fire pits around the property allowed you to really embrace the outdoors. A heated pool and diving board paired with ample deck space and two large propane grills, really allowed you to hang out and relax. As others have shared, the drive up will prove a bit more tedious with a low clearance vehicle, but don't let that prevent you from pursuing this amazing property. Most of our group had low clearance vehicles without AWD and fared just fine! I would suggest bringing sandals or flip-flops for the pool- the ground around the edge of the pool is a tad rough on your feet. Cell reception was decent (2-3 bars across various carriers), but WiFi is also available at the house. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely look to book at Eagles Dwelling again!

A Magical Birthday Getaway!
This place is absolute magic! The mountains and sunset views from everywhere are captivating. We rented this house for my daughter's 10th birthday and we couldn't have asked for more. She said it was her best birthday. Beautiful home with marvelous attention to details and cleanliness. Easy check in with super INCREDIBLE owners. Kitchen was delightful to prepare meals in. Awesome heated pool. Small kids and big kids did not want to do anything but swim, swim and swim. EVERYTHING was PERFECT. If there is a way for me to rate it 10 on a scale of 5, I would. Thanks Lanah, we all enjoyed it thoroughly, especially my daughter, and we will be back for sure!

Lovely home
The house was clean and as advertised with a fully equipped kitchen. The pool was lovely but bring flip flops. The cobble stones around it are a bit hard on the feet. The grounds were clean and the views were stunning. That drive up was very interesting. Glad my car had enough clearance for some of the pot holes. Had a great time and would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to hang out with friends and family.

Family celebration with a view
Our family spent four days here celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. The views are amazing, the sunsets awe-inspiring, and the house and pool were wonderful. We had everything we needed for our party and family “sleepover”. The owners were wonderful and very responsive . The road to the house is the only possible negative of the whole experience. It was pretty washed out after 3 days of heavy rain and made for quite an adventure getting up to the house. But it is something we will be talking about for years to come, I’m sure!

Excellent views, privacy, felt like home for our stay!
My group and I had a wonderful time at the house - it had everything we needed from incredible views to crockpots. We spent the weekend just hanging on the property, swimming and eating good food. It does get a bit buggy at night so don't forget bug spray! Beds were very comfortable, and check in/check out was easy. Also, we all noted on how incredibly plush the carpet was in the home, as well as the impressive VHS/DVD collection. Would gladly return, everyone had more than enough space, easy access to town!

Serenity and a wonderful view
The house and surrounding woods sits atop of a mountain, and with the exception of an occasional jet overhead it’s completely quiet and full of solitude. The hosts went way over the norm to respond to us. The house is lovely and well-equipped. The pool enjoyable. A perfect setting for a tranquil time away from the city.

Great house, amazing view
Our 3 night stay in Gore was amazing and the house has everything you will need for a relaxing stay. We did not leave the house after arrival as we were having too much fun hanging around and swimming. One thing not to forget to bring in BUG SPRAY. The mosquitos were out in full force, although that is to be expected. We are already conversing about when we want to stay there again! Thanks Lanah!

We loved our stay at Eagles Dwelling! Lanah was very helpful and responsive during the booking process and the house matched the description. We loved the great views, swimming in the pool, and relaxing on the wrap around deck. Everyone in our group commented on what a cool spot it was. I really liked how remote it felt; although the road coming up was steep and rutted at times, it was manageable (even for folks with lower clearance cars). I would definitely book again!

Woodsy Hideaway with a Beautiful View!
First, Lanah (property manager/owner) was wonderful. She was quick to respond to questions and was very flexible with our check in since we were driving from a long distance. The house is perfect for family fun. It feels like a real mountain getaway, but close proximity to Winchester, VA (easy to get to). We had our family of four and our family that lives close by came for visits. Our dog came too and we was very comfortable in the place. The beds are very comfortable and the house was clean and nicely directed. Blankets were super soft. The loft bed upstairs is a great size and the bathroom upstairs was a good size with a large jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower. The pool was fantastic. It is a heated pool with lights for night swimming. Perfect for family fun on a hot day (we were there in July so it was great). The view is gorgeous. We spent the evenings watching the eagles sore and the sun set in the distant mountain. There was a ping pong table in the basement which was also a hit with our family. We drove in late at night so just know that the drive up to the house is steep. It did add a bit of excitement and fun to the experience. We have a 4 wheel drive truck so it was no problem for us. All wheel drives should be fine too. All in all-we LOVED our stay and highly recommend it for families who want to get away. The owners are so nice and responsive!

Beautiful Mountain Get-Away
Out family had a wonderful time at this beautiful mountain home. The views are amazing and it is the perfect place to get away and disconnect. I would highly recommend for families looking to spend quality time with one another. Please make note that there is no cable TV and the wifi is a bit spotty. Also, you definitely need 4W drive to make it up to the house. The house is also close to historic Winchester, VA which offers lovely shops and restaurants.

Hi Alexandra! Thank you so much for your review. It was fun to have you all out to our place. I just wanted to add, our neighbor does not have 4WD but a small Camry and our cleaning team at times has driven a car that’s not 4WD so it is not required to get up the hill. However, the road is rough and rocky but a 4WD is not required. Thank you again for your stay. :)
