Very quiet and pleasant venue. Great view. If you want to cook there are very basic utensils available. Make time on your last day to strip linens, wipe down surfaces, and clean the floor.

Excellent up north retreat!!!
Both me & my Partner thoroughly enjoyed our 7 nights at Loftville. It was charming, quiet, comfortable. It was also close to everything we wanted to be near on our up north retreat.

Overall Nice Stay
Overall nice stay. Shower is extremely small if that is a factor when choosing a place. Also, I personally thought check out routine was asking for a little much - all surfaces to to wiped down (dusting?) and to sweep floors.

What a fantastic trip! This property was as beautiful and clean as pictured. The location was just outside of Grand Marais' maintaining the wonderful towns charm and access without losing privacy. The loft is across the street from Lake Superior and we could hear the waves, especially during the Gale force winds. It was amazing! Thank you to our hosts! We are looking forward to booking another stay!

Great home base for an active trip
We loved staying at Loftville. The location was perfect with minor exceptions (see below). Easy access and great directions. Hosts were very accommodating and responsive. I have a couple of critiques, but want to be careful to note that I made this booking EXTREMELY SPONTANEOUSLY and didn't put a ton of thought into the trip or our needs. 1. Wifi. Ideally - wifi is not a necessity for a trip to the north shore. There is no TV in this space (which is WONDERFUL TBH), so any entertainment is dependent on WiFi. For us this primarily meant streaming music, but we did use netflix after our children were asleep. The wifi was spotty at best. This is really just an FYI really. It is a simple fix, but also totally unneeded for anyone not needing to stream. (Hot tip: download your music first if you're a music person!) The bigger issue was the living room furnishings. The sofa is very uncomfortable - not a place to lounge or relax. The one chair available is comfortable though. This is fine if you're out kayaking/hiking/boating all day and all you just plan to come back and crash early so you can start again the next day. But if you have some hours to kill after your kids are asleep - it would be nice to have a comfortable place to lounge. Had I paid more attention to the listing when I booked, this would have been preventable. The only other item is that there is NO lake access at this location. The entire shoreline is private property along the road and watchful eyes are readily available to call out that fact. (My wife took our kids to the shore through a vacant lot - yes w/ p.p. signs - right after we arrived so they could see the lake briefly before we took off on a hike and a neighbor was immediately calling out to them. This is totally understandable from a property owner's perspective, just not ideal for a lake visit. This is clearly another thing i could have paid more attention to when looking for a booking. All that said - we have no regrets in staying at Loftville. It served its overall purpose very well.

Lovely Loft!
We had a wonderful time at the Loft! From the moment we pulled up and the kids waved to us to the moment when we left, it was a lovely and peaceful place to spend a few days. The loft is a stylish mix of industrial meets IKEA meets lakeshore and the whole combination works perfectly. Immaculately kept, we had everything we needed from a great view of Superior down to a well stocked kitchen. We loved it!

Cozy and clean Loft located just steps from Lake Superior.
The Loftville was such a charming, clean and perfectly located spot to spend my vacation. I was so impressed with the uniquely decorated interior and exterior of the property and the location just steps from Lake Superior. I walked along Croftville Road in the mornings and evenings enjoying the beautiful peaceful scenery and the sound of the waves. My days were filled with hikes at the nearby State Parks, numerous waterfalls, finding agates along the shore and amazing views of Lake Superior. I would highly recommend the Loftville for your next visit to the North Shore.

Great Visit
A really cozy apartment - located above a garage in Croftville. Located incredibly close to Lake Superior. The space was lovely, with a bedroom, and a combined living room / dining room / kitchen space. We felt independent, although our hosts lived in the home next to us (and were available if we had questions). We definitely recommend the stay!

Embracing the Spirit of Lake Superior
Comfy, clean and close to the lake fit the bill. That with the use of the fire ring (for a 6 hour hot dog and cocoa experience) and the the roar of the waves crashing against the rocks set us up for an outside October experience not to be forgotten. Only thing, next time no stairs for us. Getting too old for that.

PERFECTION
This is an exquisite get-away spot. The loft is perfectly outfitted and decorated. I loved the collection of Reader's Digest and other reading material. The family gave me my space but was right there when I needed my wine bottle opened. The bed is super comfortable. Your day from morning to night will be perfect. Wish I was still there.

Loft on the big lake.
We found the loft convenient to great hikes and bike trails. The location was a short drive from town, but was close to secluded beaches. The neighborhood is very quiet and has a great view of the lake. The loft is well equipped and spacious for 2 people. The internet was very good. We enjoyed are stay!

Perfect Escape!
Loftville is a gorgeous cozy-chic, really clean, little escape from the Cities. There is plenty of room for the kids to play while creating a meal or getting ready to head out for the day. The beds were so comfortable! I hardly ever sleep well while away from home but slept great each night at the loft. The road outside the loft is perfect for getting some fresh air without having to go far. It's about a 3 mile walk, round-trip, and lined with beautiful views of the lake and quaint cabins, cottages, and homes. Located right off 61, it's convenient to travel from the loft to any popular site or hiking trail near by. We would definitely recommend staying at Loftville!

I loved how it was out of Grand Marais, but only a few minutes away. Our stay was quiet and peaceful. Couldn't ask for more. Will definitely be starting there again if we ever get the chance. Absolutely loved it!

The loft up the shore.
The loft was very tastefully and cutely decorated. I loved being able to hear the waves of Lake Superior when the window was opened. I also appreciated that the owners were respectful and did not try to interact too much. We knew they were there if we needed something, but they also allowed us our space!

Relaxing and Comfortable
We loved our stay here. Spent spring break with our 9 month old here. The place was beautiful and had everything we needed. We spent the week snowshoeing and hiking on nearby trails. Would absolutely stay here again!

Perfect Grand Marais retreat
Cleverly designed and roomy apartment on the beautiful Croftville Road, close to Grand Marais (and the incomparable North House Folk School!) and all the local trails, but quiet and peaceful. Views of the lake from most windows - great fun to see the winter light change the lake throughout our stay. Comfy bed, large bathroom, everything a kitchen needs for basic meals. Walking the quiet road along the shore in the morning and evening was a real treat. Clearly, the owners care about making guests feel at home here!

This was a lovely, clean and convenient stay near Grand Marais. It has ample space, very near Lake Superior and is well equipped with anything you would need. I loved walking along the road near the lake in the evenings, it was heavenly!!

A beautiful space to relax and conveniently located
Better than what we could have imagined! Located on a quiet side road right off the highway; steps from Lake Superior a short drive into town. Did many walks up and down the road, always being greeted by friendly neighbors and other locals. The space is immaculate, creative, and true to the North Shore. Check in/out is a breeze! We can't wait to come back next year.

Perfectly peaceful
My hubs and I stayed for 3 nights with our 1-year old. The loft worked great for us! It was so close to town and on a lovely road next to the water that we enjoyed walking and biking along. Colette gave us a great hiking recommendation and they kindly lent us a baby hiking backpack. I appreciated the dark curtains in the bedroom (good sleeping conditions for our son!) and quiet space. Would definitely stay again!

Charming Loft
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this clean, cute little loft. It was quiet and relaxing. Close to town and to nearby trail heads. The owners and family were very friendly and inviting. The only two things that could make it better would be a balcony to enjoy evenings on and an outside grill.

Charming and sunny upstairs unit with a beautiful view
My partner and I had such a wonderful week staying at Colette and Justin's charming home right across from Lake Superior. There were so many parts to love about this place! There was always complete privacy and the neighborhood was quiet enough where you could hear the waves of Lake Superior but still see plenty of friendly faces walking around. Communicating with the owners was a breeze even before we booked our reservation and all the way through our stay. They were always quick to respond and very helpful when we asked for suggestions. Inside the home the decorating was so charming and also very practical. The kitchen was very spacious and had all the important dishware we needed to cook meals. The bedroom was a great size with even extra space in the closet where I hung my wedding dress and other items needed for our big weekend. We got some great sleep at night with the windows left open for a cool north shore breeze, the comfortable firm mattress, and the great black out curtains so we could sleep in a little on our vacation. The bathroom was a great size and perfect for more than one person getting ready. I appreciated the heated light/fan near the shower which is probably even more amazing when it is wintertime up here. The place was very clean, we had our own parking space, and the location just three miles out of town were just icing on the cake. We will definitely be back to celebrate our wedding anniversary in the future.

This was such a great loft to come to after a day at the folk school. It was so quiet, cozy and not to mention clean! They had everything there that I needed. I ran into Colette one day and she was so nice. She checked to make sure that everything with my stay was ok and provided me with great hiking recommendations. I would absolutely stay here again, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to travel to Grand Marais.

Quiet and serene!
The loft was a wonderful place to stay! Beautiful and rustic furnishings. Open the windows and listen to the waves. Our hosts recommended a great place for dinner and it did not disappoint! The loft is nestled on the hosts’ property but you would never know it. Very private and peaceful.
