All the staff were lovely . A special mention thoughto Molly on the reception who sorted a slight issue concerning a computer error at the end of our stay . She was very professional and a credit to the hotel

Cannot wait to go back
The question to ask is would you go back and our answer would be a definite yes . A lovely old style ambience in a stunning location over looking the Thames . All the food was excellent and memorable starting with roast beef sandwich at lunch . Then smoked pigeon followed by sea bream for dinner . The full breakfast was perfection .

It was all very good until we were informed that there was a charge for what we had been told was a free room upgrade. The charge was withdrawn when we challenged it but there was no attempt at an apology.

I had a very bad experience. Arrived in my room to find a bathroom bin full of the previous residents rubbish and an un-flushed toilet with a number 2 which had clearly been festering for some time at the bottom of the toilet bowl. Reported to reception and this was cleaned. I woke up the next morning to find little red/brown bugs on the bed/duvet/pillow. I accidentally crushed one which was filled with blood, my blood! It was bed bugs! I was bitten all over. The bites were itchy and very sore, some still are now. Nearly a week on and I’m still in the process of trying to decontaminate my suitcase, belongings and car to ensure I don’t end up infesting my own home. They did not charge me for the room in the end, but there has been a cost to me physically from the bites, the seemingly endless effort of dealing with the aftermath, including the destruction of clothes from boil washing.

Convenient for Henley Literary Festival event at the town hall. Staff was very helpful with a long list of food allergies. They hadn’t initially gotten the message we‘d left with Expedia requesting two twin beds but when we clarified this on booking in they quickly remedied this for us. The only issue we had was that the bath was very creaky and felt a bit unstable which we reported on our feedback sheet. They were having work done on their main toilets when we visited so had porta loos in service but these were serviceable. Other than that a great visit. Our breakfast was beautifully served and delicious. Parking was ample and they let us leave our car with them for a while after checkout so we could do some additional book shopping before our departure home which was kind. The back exit cuts through to town which is handy and the room we had looked out on a beautiful river view.

Phyllis Court has a spectacular location alongside the Thames. The squabbling geese and rowing coaches loudspeakers are clearly audible at night. The sprawling property offers every conceivable outlet for the energetic, the literary, the hungry and the thirsty. The staff are the perfect combination of warm and professional. My only gripes would be firstly that it is a little tired and grubby around the edges. The corners of the bathroom featured peeling mouldy silicone, little piles of dirt and hair where the mop clearly did not easily reach and the toilet had clear splatters of previous usage. Secondly, the environmental credentials are disappointing. Virtually every room had the heating at full with a window gaping open, the tap in our room was hard to stop dripping and the loos downstairs had a number of gushing toilets that clearly had not been maintained. The heating and water bills here must be astronomical an they clearly don't need to be. Overall, it is a lovely property with great staff and a few, easily fixable frustrations.

Rooms are tired and the place feels very dated.
Couldnt eat at the restaurant because of the dress code. This wasnt a problem as plenty of nice places to eat in the local area. Rooms have a very 90’s vibe. Shower space was clean but tired. Old worn carpets. Creaking stairs. Not a very good lock on the door. Not to my taste, wouldn’t recommend not stay again.

Beautiful location, staff polite and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room had beautiful views looking over the river. Although it was very small, and should really only have a single bed, as it was difficult to enter the bedroom. As the door opens up against the bed. Otherwise a wonderful stay.

More a members club than a hotel, old fashioned and stuffy. Members put first before guests as hotel income ‘is peripheral’. Messaged via Expedia to advise of my partner’s 50th birthday on arrival and requested they make it special, but no acknowledgement or surprise in room. Room was very nice but too hot, even with fan supplied. Barman was incredibly rude and had to complain to duty manager, but nothing done. Other staff pleasant and very helpful, especially Polly and Wesley on reception, Felicity who served us breakfast and security guards. Swimming pool and gym facilities were good if a bit clinical - modern building across the car park. Perfect location for town centre and good parking.

I had a truly amazing stay. The dinner I had was superb and delicious and the staff efficient, attentive and very friendly. The bedroom had the most fantastic view and very comfortable. Thanks to everyone I had a most enjoyable stay.

Good stay
Room small but lovely view from balcony. Breakfast excellent. Service excellent and staff friendly and helpful. On leaving unfortunately we were charged the wrong amount for our room and also charged for drinks we had already paid for, so I would advise to check bill very carefully.

Had an enjoyable stay here. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very slow and rather overcooked but that was probably due to shortage of staff and not their fault. Also there was a fire alarm which probably was a factor also.

Loved our stay!
We absolutely loved our stay at Phyllis Court! We were there for two nights, our room was very comfortable with a great shower and very comfortable bed. It was also very quiet and we could park our car outside. All these things are important to us! Breakfast was delicious and the setting in their modern glass conservatory was perfect overlooking the lawn and river where we could watch the rowers and ducks. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, even when we returned very late one evening from a theatre trip to London. We will definitely stay at Phyllis Court again when we are next in Henley.

Absolutely loved Phyllis court
Absolutely loved Phyllis court! The hotel is beautiful, so much elegance and history... The location is perfect and was such good value for money. The sraff deserve a medal for their service, politeness and friendliness, everyone was amazing.
