Our favorite Northumberland stay

The Granary at Carr Edge was a lovely place; I hope we can visit again. It's in a beautiful spot with gorgeous views on both sides. It looks remote on the map, but access to Hexham, Hadrian's Wall and various forts and museums was easy. It's picturesque, a stone-built farm house and outbuildings, so like my grandparents' that I visited as a child. Everything was perfect down to the signage. There's an interesting historic remnant of a Gin-Gang (look it up!). Our hostess, Sandy, was charming and ready to answer our curious questions. She had thought of everything, including delicious flapjacks for us. There was a water issue, referred to in earlier reviews, but there was plenty of bottled water for us and we found it no inconvenience. This was our favorite stay in Northumberland and I hope we can return.

Super first floor unit with amazing views over the Northumberland countryside, Spacious, quiet, comfortable and very well equipped. We loved our stay and would return if we’re in the area.
