The bath robe in the room was dirty and had a vape in the pocket. TV in the room didn't work. Other than that room was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was tasty. The pool facilities were spotless and the hot tub and sauna were very relaxing.

Very family friendly and our dog was made to feel very welcome with some simple adaptions to allow us to dine on the evening and morning. All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great value, we are repeat customers and will keep returning.

Lovely grounds all be it raining. Renovations are currently under way however furniture still a little tired in rooms. The hotel overall is clean and welcoming, the staff are attentive and service was excellent.throughout. The spa was lovely .

We booked as part of a small group for a special occasion and did all have a lovely time, great company and beautiful surroundings, very comfortable bedroom and lounge areas but some things could have been improved upon just by having additional staff on - the check in process was long and arduous, bar service was slow and at breakfast were met with long queues. I would have thought if the hotel knew how busy they were going to be there would have been additional staff to speed services along, one more on check in and at the bar and perhaps someone serving teas and coffees at breakfast would have made a lot of difference.

Lovely stay. Unfortunately the Leisure facilities were at capacity so i didn't use them. Room was basic and bed not very comfortable. Money has been spent on bar, restaurant areas and the rest of the communal areas but the rooms could really do with a refurb in keeping with this hotel

Slaley hall stay
Slaley hall is lovely. The spa pool etc is also really pleasant. I'd say that the room (and corridors) weren't warm. We tried altering air con but still chilly. We'd upgraded on arrival (for a fee) but didn't get all that was included despite asking. It wasn't a big issue but a bit annoying. Dining in the bar was nicer than in the restaurant in terms of food, but the staff were all lovely wherever we were.

We had a problem with the fan blowing out cold air . So on our way to the evening meal we told reception and on return the heating was fine .

The surroundings are beautiful. Unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing, the pool was on a waiting list so we never managed to use the facilities, our view was the spa roof, so dissapointed in what i hoped was going to be a family stay. I will not return.

Slaley not so good Hall
Long queue when checking in waited almost an hour!. Poor meal in evening, basically microwaved pie with spoon full of mash, 2 carrots £18? Breakfast poor, not very hot and not much choice. Corridor very noisy upto about 11,30pm. Spa was full so had to go on waiting list!

A fantastic stay at Slaley Hall. Unexpected how much I enjoyed this short break. The Spa area, lounge and hotel was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful! Very accommodating to my little dog which was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was ideal with a huge choice, again it was a bonus that the hotel catered for dietary need. Thank you for an amazing experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

We stayed here in February this year and we weren’t very happy then as the jacuzzi in the spa wasn’t working there was no bags for wet costumes and the machine to wring out your costume wasn’t working either, we had other issues regarding food as well.We thought we would give it another chance and booked a 2 night stay upgraded our room to a superior room and we won’t be staying again, the room was cold the bed was hard and the breakfast was disgusting, when we first went for breakfast at 9.30 ( breakfast served til 10.30 btw) there was nothing left apart from a few dried up sausages and tomatoes, we asked for poached eggs and it took them 20 minutes to bring them out another lady waited 40 minutes for scrambled eggs it was ridiculous. The whole hotel was cold not just our room we sat for dinner in our coats it was freezing, considering the reputation of this hotel it certainly doesn’t live up to it

Our stay overall was OK but just a few things to mention. Our room could have done with extra pillows. We only had one each and there were no glasses for a drink of water. Unfortunately, we had noisy guests in the room next to us who were talking until late which kept me awake. However, we appreciate this was not your fault. Unfortunately, at breakfast the coffee machine was broken and there was no hot water for tea so we went without. And just one last feedback suggestion - there was a lengthy queue at checkout time so we just left our key on the desk as we had to rush off - maybe a place to hand keys in without having to queue? Apologies for the above but hopefully, these comments are helpful.

Poor venue for families, more suited to golfers
Arrived 2pm. Room not ready until after 4pm. Couldnt use the spa until 3pm as adults only until then. Childs cot came with no mattress. Had to ask for extra pillows instead then chase up again 2hrs later for them. No tea bags in room, just coffee. Arrived at restaurant at 6.15pm (no booking) and told no room for 3 people. Bar next door stopped serving food at 6pm. Had to go to golf club house and they reluctantly fitted us in mainly down to us complaining. Food then sent back as not very good.

Fabulous hotel and staff but not for disabled user
Great hotel and excellent staff with beautiful rooms will be a great hotel to stay unless you are disabled. I am wheelchair dependent and the spa is totally inaccessible. You have to find a staff member to take you through the grotty offices to get to it as it is only accessible to the public by stairs (so if your infirm you will struggle too). Then once there the pool itself has many steps in/out and is not accessible in any other way. Wasn't sure whether to put this review as don't want to put anyone off as it is a great hotel, fab spa and great staff. Just want to warn my fellow wheelchair users wanting to use the spa it is a none starter and we actually ended up leaving, but they were great about it.

I wouldn't recommend this as a spa hotel. A few things didn't seem 4*, plastic cups in the room, no robes in the rooms, you needed £1 to use the lockers at the spa, no A/C in the gym, repairs and maintenance that needed to be done at the spa...

Unique but not perfect
Lovely location. Interesting building but a bit dark. Did not like children in the bar and made us realise we prefer adult only hotels. Restaurant is ok, not very intimate, but staff was lovely.

Had a great time, but did not reach expectations
Had a lovely stay, however there were a fe annoying things that I’m usually used to as standard in hotels… No towels in the spa, had to use room towels No automatic freshening of rooms, we had to put a card out and missed doing this. Breakfast in the morning was over cooked at 8.30 am. The following day we went at 8am which was better, but shouldn’t need to get up earlier for a decent cooked breakfast. No bottles of water in room. No fridge in room, for chilled drinks, had to leave in a sink of cold water to chill. No paper maps of the walking course, provided a link to their website to follow routes, but internet kept knocking off which made it challenging and a few of the marker arrows had been knocked down which made it confusing. A few of the beers were sold Out that we liked. To be fair, we have had the best stay! However the hotel was not the be all and end all which we found disappointing as expectations were high from feed back from others and also previous experiences were not reached.

Hotel clean and leisure facilities all working. Breakfast adequate not as good as it used to be. Dinner ok and overpriced as the drinks also. £1.50 for tap soda water to go with wine.
