Very Good

The house was nice and was very good sized. However, a bit outdated, and pictures not totally representative of current condition. For example, many kitchen cupboard hinges no longer working; there is no longer a bar outside by the pool, some of the furniture in the various rooms was worn down and a bit damaged, etc. Also, instructions indicated to clean the main room before check out; but vaccuum cleaner didn't work and couldn't find a broom or mop anywhere. Overall, though, a good rental.

A Wonderful Vacation in a Fabulous House

This property was spacious, clean, and beautifully furnished. The house was excellent for our family (7 adults, 3 young children) with ample space for everyone. The layout allowed for private, separated sleeping quarters for each group as well as private bathrooms. The kitchen was stocked with every imaginable piece of equipment and was roomy enough for several people to prepare food simultaneously. There was a very private backyard with a pool that was enjoyed by all. It was a short walk to a beautiful uncrowded beach. We had access to plenty of pool toys as well as several beach chairs, a beach cart, and beach toys. Many grocery stores were nearby as were plenty of restaurants. We enjoyed our stay so much, we have already reserved the house for next summer!!

Great location, property needs a deep clean and landscaping

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Burkes Beach is a great location - less busy area and convenient. Walk to beach under 10 minutes. House next door under construction so occasional, irritating noise. Overall, house layout is excellent but needs a deep clean.(AC vents, fans, kitchen cabinets, stove, black mold in some showers). Beds are very firm. TV by the pool did not connect to wifi so therefore useless. Pool area and furniture is dirty. The back yard is muddy (no mulch or turf) very useless. No response from mgr regarding spa on/off switch (couldn't find). Could really use better skillets and more forks and spoons, otherwise well-equipped. Overall could be a lot better based on $$.

Our just “pretty good” vacation home

We have stayed at this location many times over the past dozen or so years. This year we enjoyed ourselves again, but began to notice the impact of inadequate maintenance of the furnishings, mainly. Area carpets are worn and stained in places, lamps had missing or burnt out bulbs, the basement play area was dirty and the fridge in rough condition, pillow shams torn in living area, comforter torn in master bedroom, the lights over and in the stove were not working, one garage door would not close properly, the motion light in the pool area cycled on and off all day and night, air conditioning on second floor was not working when we arrived. The garbage area appears to never be swept out and clean, the foosball table was broken and left in the basement and a new table was there but cheap and broken. Several Venetian blinds were broken or inoperable.When we started renting this house it was in much better condition. It needs a thorough going through to bring it back to the best that it can be.

Big HiltonHead Home needs TLC to be GREAT

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the house was huge and comfortable for the family of 12. lots of rooms, beds and gorgeous spacious bathrooms. location to beach was fine for us, walkable and easy to see sunrises/sunsets. great location. beautfiful burkes beach offer chair rentals (which is good bc house does not provide). the kitchen was not well maintained and was a little dirty - not from the cleaners, but dirt from being old and not maintained. the vent above the stove did not have a cover so the filter was visible and one of the burners did not work. the ice maker did not work - or went so slow. given the size of house and number of people, this was a problem bc we had to keep going out to get ice. alos they would heat hot tub bc said that we needed to give two weeks notice for that (confusing?). if owners put a little care to update outdoor kitchen, landscape, outdoor furniutre it would be aazing. this house has great bones. i would rent again, but this time i know what i am gettng. i would compare the prive to similar houses to see if they are better maintained. otherwise this house was great -

Eight golfing buddies

This home is just as beautiful as described! It is appointed with warm furnishings to make you feel right at home. The kitchen was so well equipped that we took turns cooking dinner almost every night. It was fun to have all eight of us in the kitchen at once and nobody got in the way! We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor spaces, especially the hot tub. Although the weather was a bit cool, we spent time in the heated pool/hot tub and then turned the fireplace on and enjoyed "family"time in the gorgeous living room area. It was very peaceful to be located right across the street from the park. The beach is a short walk away and the bike paths are all over. Loved the giant garage by the way, since we rented eight bikes from Pedals. Two restuarants that we would recommend are The Old Fort Pub and Alexander's. Both were excellent! Just a couple of quirky things about the house included the TV up stairs, pool/spa programming and the outdoor grill. It would be great to have written instructions of how to operate the upstairs TV ( also maybe a DVD player) Ad pool programing. With both the TV and pool, after calling Hilton Head rentals we were able to figure out the operation. They were really quick to help. The out door grill needs some attention. We had a scary moment trying to light it and keep it going. Very nice party set up outside. We would definitely rent this property again. In fact, we don't want to say too many nice things about it or someone else will rent it and it won't be available to us!

Wonderful family vacation home!

Great family vacation home. Location is close to beach, shopping and restaurants. Pool was a big hit after a day at the beach. Garage parking was nice for 3 cars. Would definitely book in the future.

Great home for a large group!

This home was great for our large family. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to have their own space while common areas are also large for when we wanted to be together. Everyone enjoyed the pool. Home was clean and management was quick to respond when we had a couple of questions. Loved the location and short walk to the beach. Everyone truly enjoyed our first trip to Hilton Head!

But there’s a caveat.

Our stay at this property was incredibly disappointing. First and foremost, the mattresses were HORRIBLE—so uncomfortable that none of us got a decent night’s sleep. We even debated leaving early. The pool and spa were not cleaned, and to make matters worse, the lights in the pool/spa didn’t even work. We reached out to management multiple times, and they were absolutely no help. The overall cleanliness of the home was subpar; the walls were dirty, and we even encountered dead bugs out in the open areas. The WiFi was painfully slow, and we had to reset it at times during our 4 night stay, which was frustrating when trying to relax. Lastly, the water pressure in the master bathroom was almost nonexistent, making using the sinks a hassle. For the price, we expected much more. I would not recommend this rental, especially if you value your lumbar.

4 SurfWatch Way

Overall the house was good. The rooms were big enough to accommodate our party and the elevator was a nice touch but there were several things that were not up to our standards. The house was VERY dusty and didn't look to be cleaned very well. There was no mop or broom. The hot tub didn't work which was disappointing. We tried to grill and the tank was empty, when we called for assistance to get a new tank it was changed out but the worker left the burners on and we had no idea. We all could've blown up! The next day after calling to report it we were told that the owners need to provide another grill and never heard from management again. The garage door wouldn't close properly.

Family Gathering

Everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. The house was perfect for our group of adults and children. Lots of games & pool fun and it is a 10 min walk to the beach! The fenced in yard is great for dogs! No complaints from anyone in our large group! Just make sure to bring or buy all of your food needs as there is nothing in the cupboards or fridge when you arrive. We made many visits to Whole Foods & other grocery stores which was very easy. Food delivery & restaurants are in abundance.

Some work could make this a great home. Just not quite there

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very disappointed. This was our third time at Hilton head but first at this home. If this was the first time I’m not sure we would have returned. There are some things about the house that we liked. But the house needs a lot of work. Some of the carpets have what looks like as pet stains. The comforter in the downstairs bedroom has a stain and is torn. The pool needs some work inside and around it and the pool kitchen area was disgusting. The bedroom with bunk beds was so cold we couldn’t use it. The furniture is very old and outdated not what you would expect to find in a beach house. We kept finding feathers on the floor from one of the sofas.That being said the management company is amazing and responded immediately to our calls. This could be a great house. Just needs some updates and a makeover.
