Richmond Hippodrome Theater Hotels

"We arrived at 4:00 and was informed that our room was not ready. Check in time is 3:00. The desk clerk told us it would be 10-15 minutes. We parked the car in the garage and returned to the same. We were given a comporable room. When we arrived in the room the temperature was very warm and the thermostat had a fault code and was not functioning. A call to the desk informed maintenance. No reply and no working thermostat. 30 minutes later another call to the desk clerk and we were informed that the problem was in the roof unit. The thermostat was reset and was working. We left for the evening. Upon arriving back to the room a few hours later we found ourselves in the same situation. We made more calls to the desk clerk and maintenamce reset the roof switch again (I assume). Fast forward to midnight. Awoke to an overly warm room with no air circulation. Multiple calls to the desk want unanswered. We were on our own for the duration of our stay in the room. I spoke with the clerk on duty in the AM and she was aware of our situation but did not provide us an explation. Maybe our room wasnt ready beacuse none of the rooms on that floor had working thermostats."

"On our way to the hotel, we received a call that our room would not be ready on time. Upon arriving, we had assumed parking would be free as the hotel is over a parking garage, but were told that we would have to use the parking lot across the street (23$/8hr) or the valet service who owned the garage(51$). We ending up using the valet service and the gentleman from PNC were extremely friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were less friendly. Everyone seemed in a rush to get things done. One gentleman who was friendly, seemed to be trying harder than the others, but overwhelmed as they kept leaving him alone. We were not able to enjoy our stay fully due to our room not being ready when we arrived. We were hoping to use the hot tub, which was the main reason we chose the Hilton. Unfortunately, we had to make the decision to skip it. Outside of service and confusion, the hotel was beautiful and clean. Shaun helped us check out and also helped us find some things we needed the next morning. His smiling face and friendly disposition brightened up what would have ended up being a completely disappointing stay. "

"The room itself was very spacious and clean. Had a microwave and fridge and good sized shower. The only small negative was the hallways were quite dated, although it looks like there's some renovations going on. The state of the hallways definitely don't transfer into the rooms though. A fantastic hotel. Also there's no garage parking directly tied to the hotel, but there are 2 garages very close by."

The boutique charm does come at boutique prices, and the Broad Street location, while walkable to galleries and restaurants, puts you a bit of a distance from the riverfront and other parts of the city. Parking is worth planning ahead for. But as Richmond hotels go, Quirk earns its reputation as a place that feels genuinely rooted in the city rather than imported from a generic hospitality brand. It's a distinctive, worthwhile stay."
