Peaceful Paradise

Moose Meadows is so beautiful and peaceful. The decor is very cozy and we felt right at home. Everyone slept like a dream. Hope to make it back someday.

Great time in Homer

We came to Homer to go fishing. We also took the ferry to Seldovia. Moose meadows was a great place to lay our head after a long day of enjoying all Homer had too offer.

The perfect vacation cabin

The cabin is well stocked and taken care of. Sitting outside on the deck was quiet and peaceful. The cabin even lived up to its name. We came back on our last evening to find two cow moose and one calf just off the deck. It was a perfect ending.

My family and I had an amazing stay! It suited us perfectly, We highly recommend if you are looking to be about 15 minutes from downtown Homer with very quiet days and nights and a large home to accommodate everyone. Wonderful well maintained cabin in the woods. Private and well equipped with everything you need. Great place to decompress and enjoy the peace and quiet. Catkin is a lovely hostess and she made certain we had everything we needed including great directions. Will book again next trip to Homer

Peaceful getaway

The cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved the privacy yet close to town. The evenings on the deck were so relaxing. Had everything we needed to cook and do laundry. Would stay again in the future. Catkin was very easy to work with when I messed up our dates.

Absolutely Amazing!!!

We absolutely loved our stay. The main house has is beautiful and has everything needed for our 6 days stay. The extra cabin and outhouse was a great addition. The outdoor fire pit was enjoyed in multiple nights and one special night our son heard some crashing in the woods. He came and got all of us and we were able to see a momma moose with her two babies. Catkin was a wonderful host. She went above and beyond to find something we lost there. We would love to stay again! Highly recommend this piece of paradise !

Relaxing family adventure

We spent a wonderful week here, it was conveniently just a short drive from all the activities in Homer, and the cabin was the perfect fit for the whole family. It is a wonderful and private place to relax after a day of adventures. The host went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay (including some baby proofing items for our toddler). The cabin lived up to its name with a first moose spotting for mamgu (welsh for grandma) and tadcu (grandpa) on their first trip to Alaska from Wales, UK.

Discovering Homer Spit & Kenai Peninsula

The wooded setting is exactly what we were looking for and recommend anyone coming to Homer to stay in one of Catkin Kitchler Burtons rentals. We watched the tapes provided about the Kitchler family homesteading in Alaska and it was no bed of roses. Someone had to do it!

Exceptional Vacation

We just returned from a week at this cabin and cant say enough good things about the property and host. The cabin is neat, clean, decorated nicely, completely furnished and the beds were comfortable. The view is spectacular. Just what we were looking for. Owner was extremely easy to get in touch with and great to work with. She goes out of her way to make your stay memorable. We cant wait to go back. It is a great area to visit and a great place to stay. When you go take the time to go and visit the Homestead. The views are breathtaking.

Beautiful cabin

Beautiful cabin and very friendly owner. Prompt replies to questions. Very clean, and beautiful cabin. Kitchen was stocked with needed items, and there were board games to play. Bedrooms up sort of steep stairs but doable for my 2 yr old. Comfortable beds and plenty of extra blankets. Nice yard that the kids could run around in. My only recommendation is that there be an addition of dark curtains in the bedrooms as the sun was shining through the blinds and made it extremely hard for the kids to sleep. Quiet location, about a 10 min drive to the spit and grocery store so must have a car:) Thanks again, would definitely come again:)

Quiet Comfort

This is remote. Do not try to navigate the dirt roads to this house in a small car without much clearance. The house is as advertised and on this trip was the most private. Finding the house is a little bit of a challenge and it would be nice if there were a few signs located at turns. These roads are not marked in any way when you get back off the main road. Was there anything extraordinary about the property - not really, but the privacy was refreshing. There are a small number of restaurants and small gift shops but for the most part if you are not actively hunting, fishing or hiking there really isn't much there. Having made this observations, if we were to stay in Homer again we would rent this location.
