The property is tired and dated and very noisy hearing most noises around the property, we had to turn the car park lights on at dusk from our room, very strange
However found the staff very nice and helpful

There was no hot water in the shower, no cold water in the bathroom,
Bed sheet are not cleaned
Otherwise, staff are friendly, room is spacious.
Was well looked after even after arriving early in morning we were accommodated and allowed to check in, room was tidy clean and comfortable. Could have provided a small tv and a microwave, otherwise Top Marks for the Albany will stay again and oh the price was reasonable and fair, Thanks to Asher.
Lovey, helpful staff.
Hotel room needs a deep clean, dust and peeled off paint on the curtains which all came down when drawing them. Fabric pealing off the head board. Mould in the bathroom. Broken drain on the bathrom floor which was dangerous.
We are not fussy, so to put this review is unlike us. But was ultimately a place to put our heads down and sleep for a night so did the job but wouldnt want to be staying here for more than 1 night. Beds were confortable.

If you have wondered what it’s like to vacation inside a David Lynch fever dream — look no further than the Albany Hotel in Hove.
Let’s start with the setting: it shares a wall with a boarded-up, abandoned building that looks like it’s about to star in its own “true crime” documentary.
Now, finding your room is part escape room, part Olympic trial. When the kind and genuinely lovely staff told us our room was “just up the stairs and to the right,” what they meant was: ascend three flights of creaking stairs, pass at least one or two portals to parallel dimensions, take a sharp right, go down a half-flight of inexplicable stairs, follow another hallway, make a suspicious right turn, and open a door that you’re only 65% sure isn’t cursed. Also: there were at least two lifts — clearly long deceased — both quietly mocking us with their dusty OUT OF ORDER signs like two metallic tombstones of convenience.
The stairs themselves were their own adventure — not only because of the sheer number of them, but because they came with surprise doors. Randomly-placed, vaguely ominous doors you must pass through mid-staircase like you’re completing a side quest in a haunted video game. And the carpet! Let’s talk about the carpet. Imagine “The Shining,” now imagine worse. Faded, worn, and deeply confused

Albany was a good hotel. We stayed for one night and it was good for what it was. The place had seen better days, I want to believe that it was under revamp but I cannot confirm this. The staff at reception was lovely and check in was quick. Lots of stairs up to the room, we were the second floor. There was a lift but was unavailable. The structure of the building is quite old but it was unique. Parking out the back of the hotel was good but can be quite hard to find. When arriving at the room after a lot of stairs, we opened the door and were pleased to see a decent room. It wasn’t amazing but it was all the basic things you need. There was an unpleasant smell when we walked in. It appeared to come from the bathroom but after a while you don’t noice it and a bit of perfume did the job. Again, the room was very old looking but it was kinda quirky. When you first walk in there is a small hall with a large mirror/wardrobe then a bathroom and the master room. The bathroom was stocked with mini shampoos, body wash and soap as well as a hand towel and towels. We didn’t use the shower as didn’t need too but from looking at it, it was decent. Was a little grubby on the shower floor but other than that seemed okay. All in all was a functional bathroom, wasn’t a 5 star bathroom and like I said had the smell but did the job. The master room was spacious. The bed was super comfortable and had tea facilities and a TV. For what it is, it’s a little expensive but all in all did the job.

Good hotel, few minor improvements needed
Unexpected last minute booking on the way to Hove. I chose to book the Albany due to the short distance between the train station and the beach and the reasonable price of around £100 for my young son and I. Upon arrival we were greeting with a very friendly face and shown to our room. I was told it was on the third floor which was fine and I think there was a lift (did not use as do not like lifts!) so the trek up the stairs and through about 3 doors was quite exhausting. However, we were happy with the room, one double bed and separate bathroom, which hosted a shower, sink and toilet. For what I paid for the room, I would not expect the Ritz but there was a lot to be desired, which in fairness could be quick fixes for the hotel. The blind did not stay up so I had to tie this down. Although tea/coffee making facilities were plentiful, there was no spoon to stir and I did not want to make the trip down the stairs just for this reason! The shower is a little dated and the head itself was very high up and in a set position so I could not point this down onto me so it took a little careful setting. The shower itself worked fine. The towels however were so small, luckily I had brought my own. The mattress of the double bed in room 318 could do with replacing. I had a terrible night's sleep because of the amount of springs digging into me. The cleanliness could have been improved. Otherwise, the room was quiet and dark. Overall I would rate this an acceptable stay.
The chap on reception was very helpful. Hotel advertised parking but this is chargeable. Room was clean, but mattress was soft.
Overall a great budget stay
This last minute booking on a bank holiday was only £61. You’re getting a reasonable place for that amount. Yes it is in desperate need of modernisation but ideal for just a bed for the night
