Great house in a great location

We had such a lovely weekend at this property. The views were stunning. We had such great weather. We spent almost all of our time either sitting on the large deck or out by the water on the dock. We also had a lot of fun taking the kayaks out and getting to see the different parts of the lake.

Golden Retreat is Really Golden!

The Golden Retreat is really a wonderful place to stay at Smith Mountain Lake. The house is conveniently located in a great area next to the Mitchel marina and has a great dock for parking boats and staying next to the water. The house is in great order and has a wonderful wood-cabin feel with all the conveniences. I definitely will be bringing my family and my boat back to this location!

Exceptional grounds. Dock area, with 6 kayaks and a paddle board available, was so much fun! Home was clean and well kept. It does appear to be a cottage that has been expanded, but everything has been very thoughtfully and tastefully done. The main floor master bedroom and suite are exceptionally nice. The only suggestion that i would have would be to update the mattresses and some of the kitchen items.

Spacious home with great lake/mountain view

We had a very relaxing week at the Golden Retreat. Love that it is dog friendly with built in gates on deck and dock and dog crates available for when we went out boating. Plenty of room for family of 6; well stocked kitchen; comfortable furniture. TVs in every room, but we didn't use them once - too much to do on the lake! Walkable to Mitchell's Point Marina - we rented a boat from them - super nice owners. Kids had a great time. We highly recommend this property!

House was filthy, beams, covered, and cobwebs, sunroom glass is green.There was several lights that don’t work. Kitchen fan makes noise.Walk to the dock is very poor, steps/walkway, crooked/falling apart. For someone who is an upper Amputee there is no railings, specifically you have to walk down the steps from your car and walk up the steps to get in the house with no railings whatsoeverThe house is definitely not as shown in the pictures. Location was good, but sad that the owners do not take time with their investment.

Great property but no cable/internet

We loved this property, but were frustrated with the lack of both cable and internet. While we liked disconnecting and spending time outdoors, we needed internet for work calls and it wasn’t available. We also would have liked to be able to watch TV at night or hook up our WiFi baby monitor to keep an eye on young kids at night were in a different level. Property management was notified several times bur it couldn’t be fixed. Otherwise a great property, but that was a very big negative.

Very nice location. Home was comfortable. Loved the dock, spent most of our time there. They need to update mattress on full size beds. Overall very nice place.

Lovely Vacation.

Beautiful view. Nice beach making it easy for little ones to get into the water. Dock was great for fishing. Only issue was that the kitchen supplies were poor. Not really that big of a deal, just would bring some of my own next time.
